A project to digitize and archive the photographs of Dean Bullock, and to create a book of his best work.
My name is Matt. I'm a photographer based out of Salt Lake City, Utah.
I am so very fortunate to have the honor of scanning and archiving all of my grandfather's negatives, slides, polaroids and prints.
He was an amateur photographer, but he never put down the camera.
I have a room full of his negatives, slides, prints and camera equipment. I am only scratching the surface with what i've found and scanned already. Some of the negatives were literally buried on a shelf never to be looked at again.
My grandfather Dean was born in 1918 and is still living in Salt Lake City. "Deano" as everyone knows him, served in WWII and Korea while sustaining gunshot wounds that left one bullet lodged in his upper arm to this day. (We like to show that off to people, though they tend to draw their hands away quickly after touching it.)
Deano was a world traveler and a family man. He was married with three daughters. He has 17 grand-children, 47 great grand-children and 6 great great grand-children.
I think Deano would be embarrassed to know that anyone thought his images were special. I would hope that he would be honored to know that people were looking at them.
This project is an effort to scan all of his images and to create a book showcasing the best of his work. I intend that the book will be between 150-175 pages when completed. The books that are received for pledging will be limited first editions.
Your pledge will go toward better film scanning equipment as well as archival tools and supplies. Of course, your pledge will also contribute to the creation of the final book.
Thank you for looking, and hopefully, understanding what a great honor it is that I have to work with these images, not just because of the quality, but because it is my heritage.
If you are unable to contribute a pledge to the project, please contribute by sharing the project with those who may also be interested.

Right now I am scanning with an Epson V700 and SilverFast 8 software. I am color correction, toning and removing dust/scratches in Photoshop. I am planning on upgrading to a professional lab scanner soon.
