Update #21: Los Angeles Premiere!

Hello There!
We would like to invite you one and all to the Los Angeles premiere of The Woods to be held at the Downtown Independent Theater on Thursday November 3rd. We will be screening the film, doing a Q and A with cast and crew, and having a party where collaborators to the soundtrack Lydia Ainsworth, SAFE (Chris Edley), and Sun Araw (Cameron Stallones) will play tunes. It should be a killer time, so if you're in the area, or know anyone in the area who you think might be interested, please try and make it out and/ or help us spread the word!
Facebook event page here:http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=301415969874687
Karina Longworth of the LA Weekly called the film “(A) psychedelic satire of hipster back-to-nature idealism, - The only Sundance (2011) film about cults that could actually have life as a cult film, The Woods has the greatest comic insight into why our current culture might inspire a search for meaning in the first place.”
Thank you so much! - Hope you're occupying where ever you are!
Update #20: Sundance dusted, Portland on the horizon. . .
So the dust from our Sundance premiere has begun to settle a bit - a lovely, outrageous time was had by all - thank you so much for your help in getting the film to Park City.

Next up for film is a regional premiere at the Portland International Film Festival - a sort of hometown debut. The film will screen twice at Cinema 21, which is pretty exciting, as several of us actually go and see movies there, so having THE WOODS on that same screen will be quite a trip indeed. - If you're in the area please try and make it out, several cast and crew members will be in attendance.
If you're interested you can get tickets here:
Thank you all again, and congratulations Egypt! - May the revolution continue to spread!
Matthew.
Update #19: The countdown to REVOLUTION
Hey There Folks,
Writing from the trenches somewhere in LA. The Woods premieres at Sundance in less than two weeks (!) and things have never been crazier (or more exciting). Everything is happening all at once, it's all amazing, and non of it would have been possible without your gracious love and support. Thank you once again. Hope to see some of you in Park City!

Update #16: One Year On
Hello There,
It's been a few months since our last update (sorry about that), but things continue to move ahead positively. We've now got a few festival submissions under our belts (fingers crossed) and primary operations have moved from Portland, OR back down to Los Angeles, CA for the final stretch of official post-production.
A little over a year since the end of our project we'd like thank you yet again for your continued support, as well as for bearing with us we move ever closer to making this little dream of ours a reality. - 2011!

Update #15: Step by Step
Hey All,
Just another quick update to keep you in the loop.
The Rooftop/ Kickstarter extended trailer screening in Brooklyn went swimmingly - awesome location, great turnout, laughter, positivity, etc. - In addition to the New York Times piece linked in the last post, The Woods was mentioned in The Wall Street Journal blog (which is especially exciting as we're all HUGE Rupert Murdoch fans over here!!!) - We also did a little interview with the kind folks at Kickstarter prior to the event if you're interested in checking that out. . .
On the home front, yet another new cut is about to be shipped out for feedback by the end of the week - picture lock is certainly nearing. . . Scoring will begin in Toronto later in the month and title design is underway in the city by the bay.
The finish line is just over the horizon - thank you for your continued support!
Update #14: The Woods in The New York Times / Congress needs your love!
The Woods was mentioned in The New York Times today in an article about Kickstarter and film, pretty exciting. You can check it out HERE.
Also, I wanted to bring to your attention a project from my dear and exceptionally talented friend Weston Currie (perhaps my favorite young, contemporary filmmaker). Congress: A Thousand Years of Death will be Weston's first feature film and I'm more than certain it's going to blow minds. You can find a full description of the project over at the Congress Kickstarter page where you can also check out an amazingly beautiful test sequence shot by The Wood's own Director of Photography Sir Wyatt Garfield. - Go Weston!
Update #13: New Cut / Rooftop Film/ Kickstarter Event/ General Forward Momentum
Hello There,
It's been a while, but things have been moving ahead positively - slowly but surely.
A new cut of the film will be complete in the next few days, at which point we'll be soliciting one more round of notes. We're hoping to be picture locked after an addition revision, and then we'll transition into scoring, sound design, etc. with festival submissions beginning in late August. - The end is in sight. . . .
Additionally, we're super excited to be a part of a Rooftop Films/ Kickstarter event happening July 9th at the Old American Can Factory in Gowanus, Brooklyn. We'll be screening what might best be described as an extended trailer for the film - not the film itself, but hints of things to come - Preliminary Excerpts: A Rough Vision for the Future. - If you're in the city please try to make it out, sounds like it should be a pretty killer evening: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kickstarterfilmfest/the-kickstarter-film-festival
