About Future Bleak

Future Bleak is a setting and genre book produced under the Super-Powered by M&M license. Inspired by superhero fiction like Batman Beyond and Marvel's 2099 setting, Future Bleak describes a world deprived of heroes and ruled by greed. Into this world the PCs emerge to rekindle a new age of heroism.

The book will include a discussion of the genre, tools for GMs to update their home settings into the future, a sample setting (Alpha City), superheroes, villains, and an adventure designed to launch a Future Bleak campaign.

If we meet our initial goal of $2,500, Future Bleak will clock in at 96 pages. It will have a stunning color cover and all original black and white art.

Stretch Goals!

Our first few stretch goals will make Future Bleak bigger and better.

$3,250 - Visitors From Another Time
If we reach $3,250 we'll add 16 more pages, bringing the page count up to 112. This will include info on using Future Bleak in conjunction with time-travel adventures (inspired by comics like X-Men's Days of Future Past). A second adventure will feature heroes from the present era traveling forward to a bleak future.

$4,000 - More is Better
If we stretch to $4,000 in pledges, we'll add 16 more pages for a total of 128. We'll add more setting details, more advice, more heroes, and more villains.

$5,000 - Color!
We'll fill the interior of the book with full-color art.

Beyond
If we reach the $5,000 level with time to spare, we'll add some new stretch goals. These will probably be self-contained .pdfs (free for all backers) featuring new adventures, villains, or setting information for a futuristic supers game.

Why Kickstarter?

At Sneak Attack Press we believe in the crowd-funding model. Art, editing, and printing are all expensive. Crowd funding ensures that all the freelancers involved are paid on time. We also want to give our most dedicated fans an opportunity to help shape the book by naming characters and creating heroes and villains.

Note on High-Level Rewards

If you select a reward level that includes naming rights or creating a hero or villain we will work with you to create a character that you can take pride in and which fits the overall theme of the book. You will be credited as the creator, and you must agree to let the creation become property of Sneak Attack Press for this book and all future uses.
