I've been hired to be a Young Artist for ONJ this summer! But Princeton, NJ is expensive. I'm raising money for a recital!

Hello! I am Mark Wanich. I sing opera and I love it.

I have been accepted to be a Victoria J. Mastrobuono Emerging Artist for Opera New Jersey this summer. This program allows me to perform in main stage productions of their two opera (Il Trovatore and HMS Pinafore) and gives me a large amount of concert performances.

Young Artist Programs are essential to the growth of an opera singer's career. They provide singers stage experience with a professional company, exposure in front of critics and potential employers, time spent with professional coaches and directors and (most importantly) connections with the people with whom we work. This program is no exception. I know this as I have had the pleasure of working with them last year and had a blast and I am very proud to have been brought back for a second summer!

I am starting this project because the cost of living in the location is quite high. This professional company works in Princeton, NJ and is paying me a stipend, but I need to supplement my artist's income so I can dedicate as much time to my craft as I feel it deserves.

Should this project reach its goal, I will be performing a thank you recital in the middle of May 2012 (date TBA). This local recital will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights. If you cannot make the recital, fear not! Certain reward levels for this project provide you with a CD and/or DVD of the recital (I will have exact details on the type of recording soon!) This recital shall feature myself, soprano Natasha Ospina Simmons and pianist John Simmons. These two local professionals are wonderful talents that I know you will enjoy.

Please donate what you can. I hope to see you at the recital!
