Folks- "Home Isn't Home" is HERE!  And just in time for our shows this weekend!

We'll be shipping you your copies starting next week, BUT not if you haven't responded to the survey we sent out! We still have eighteen backers who have not sent us their shipping addresses--are you one of them? Do let me know, and we'll get you the goods.

My direct email is marklemairemusic@gmail.com. Much thanks, and have a great weekend.

sending you your rewards soon!

Update #10 · Nov 1, 2012 · comment

"Home Isn't Home" is being manufactured now, and we will be packing and mailing soon. The CDs will be getting sent to YOU  between the 15th and the 24th of this month. Yay!

I sent out a 'survey' VIA the Kickstarter site this morning, mostly to get all your shipping addresses. I don't know how KS will deliver the addresses to me, but please just fill out the form and hopefully they will show up on something I can print out and stick to the packages.

We are so proud of this music and very thankful that you all decided to participate in this CD. You are truly all patrons of the arts!

Our next step will be to get the music to radio stations, play public shows and house concerts to promote it, and generally spread the word. If you attend house concerts in your area and wonder if the hosts might like us to come and play, please put us together and we will try to make it work. We are based in California, but go anywhere! For instance, we are setting up dates in Texas right now, and tour New England every summer- so no worries if you have a suggestion that is not the Bay Area.

And: if you want more copies of "Home Isn't Home"  to share with folks who might enjoy this, we have special pricing for backers- just ten bucks a CD plus 2 dollars postage. Remember, Christmas is coming- think ahead!

Meanwhile, please make sure we get your shipping address through the KS site, and thanks again for being part of our music!

Mark and Cindy

the song we held up the CD for

Update #9 · Aug 10, 2012 · 1 comment

Truth is, we had this whole CD done and ready to go, and then "Dedication" came along. Audiences loved it so much that we held up the CD to fit this one in. Unfortunately, the song wasn't quite ready to be recorded yet- we were still getting the kinks out at shows! Only this this last week, after our return from the shows we did Back East, has "Dedication" become ripe enough to record.

The idea came originally from Shakespeare's "All the World's a Stage" speech. You know the one about the stages of life?

"At first, the infant, Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms. Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel And shining morning face, creeping like snail unwillingly to school...."

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/all-the-world-s-a-stage/

I started thinking of all the people that have come and gone from the world. We remember so few of them! So this song is dedicated to those who made our world and then gave it (for better or for worse) to us.

Our CD is still on track for late October- working the design and artwork now. Meanwhile, enjoy this tidbit!

a beautiful cover photo!

Update #8 · Jul 2, 2012 · 1 comment

We have secured the rights for a special, beautiful photograph for the ‘Home Isn’t Home’ CD cover. Here it is, with the story behind it:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/orvaratli/3203755280/

It was taken by Icelandic photographer Örvar A. Þorgeirsson. No, don’t ask me how to type the first letter of his last name. I just used copy/ paste!

The song “Home Isn’t Home” is all about new beginnings, moving on from the past. It’s about the sadness of leaving, combined with the anticipation that comes when one starts anew. How can one communicate any of this in a single image? For me, this photo is both beautiful and evocative. Perhaps it shows that ‘home’ can be an abandoned building on the edge of the endless universe—lonely and sad, and also somehow of a piece with sublime eternity. I think it will work beautifully.

Mr Þorgeirsson (copy/ paste again….) has a website with photos that will make your eyes pop. If the next CD cover calls for dramatic nature photography, or perhaps an Icelandic volcano in full eruption, I now know where to look!

Thanks to my friend-in-Sweden Neil Shelly for his help with all this!

A Sincere Thank You, and a Little Fine Print....

Update #7 · Jun 28, 2012 · comment

Our Kickstarter campaign closed yesterday, and we managed to raise almost $6200! You backers form an exclusive club of 114 lucky souls!

All this is incredibly gratifying, and we thank you very, very sincerely for taking a role in our success. Here are a few important bits of information that constitute “fine print”. It’s boring, but it won’t last long.

1. This CD should be in your hands in October. At the very latest, we will have it to you in time for the holidays.

2. A few of you have sent your mailing address- no need for that yet! When the CD is ready, we will send what Kickstarter calls a “survey”. We can only send a ‘survey’ once. At that point we will ask for your mailing address. If you have already sent me your address, I’ll be asking for it again- sorry for the hassle!

3 In the survey, we will also ask for (if you pledged on that level) your T-shirt size, how you would like to be thanked on the CD art, etc.

4. A few of you have reported back that Kickstarter has not charged your credit card enough. So far, this has happened with backers have pledged a certain amount and then raised their pledge. In this case, Kickstarter might have only charged you more original pledge amount. If that happened, please Email me at marklemairemusic (at) gmail (dot) com, and we will fix it.

5. Even though the official campaign has ended, we are happy to have more backers, and new backers can still get the rewards listed on the Kickstarter site by contacting me at the Email address above. Which brings me to:

6. Kickstarter has proven to be a great community builder! We have needed to raise funds, but even more important than that is to bring this music to those people that want it and don’t even know that it exists yet! Please continue to share this music to people you know via Facebook, on the web, or around the water cooler. This page:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/marklemaire/mark-lemaire-and-twilight-home-isnt-home/posts

has these updates, and also has the songs we have posted for backers to hear- but anyone can tune in and listen. Our KS home page is http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/marklemaire/mark-lemaire-and-twilight-home-isnt-home

You can freely share my website address too:  http://marklemaire.com/

So ends the fine print!

We will be keeping you in the loop VIA these updates as we finish up the album. There is still some creative work to be done, and your input is highly valued! The next update will not be so boring.
