We want more BEES! Help us reach our goal to install up to 5 more beehives on the roof of our restaurant.
Market Restaurant, in cooperation with Escazu Chocolates and local beekeeper, Ben "Mr. Buzz" Crawley, is raising money to fund the next phase of our bee hive project in downtown Raleigh! The funds would go to cover materials and supplies needed to build and install up to 5 additional bee hives on our roof.
We want to provide a space in downtown Raleigh to host honeybees to help keep populations up and to pollenate the various plants and gardens in the area. Honeybees are an incredibly important aspect to our environment and they produce sweet, delicious honey! The honey will be used in various dishes at Market as well as Escazu.
While one of the backer rewards will include a 12oz jar of fresh honey, upon successful completion of the project we plan to kick-off a CSA(piary) program that will provide honey to shareholders. Every backer of our Downtown Raleigh Apiary project will have the opportunity to participate.
The backer rewards are also cumulative, so each level includes the preceding items.

The bee dinner will be scheduled for an evening during the Fall of 2011. The location will be Market Restaurant (938 N. Blount St) and food will feature delicious food, wine, and chocolates from Escazu.

Most of it will come from these hives, but production may take some time to ramp up. If not enough is produced to meet demand, Ben will blend with fresh honey from some of his other local hives.
