Hi Kickstarters!

Thank you again for your support for Luci's Let Down. It has been one of the most rewarding projects I've undertaken and it wouldn't have been possible without your support.

Working on Luci has exacerbating my itch to write, and I'm currently working on a novel called Nightmares of Neverwas. I entered my book pitch to a contest called "pitch-a-palooza", part of National Writing Month.

My pitch made it as a finalist! (I believe they are randomly selected, so this is about luck, not skill :-)  )

Please considering voting for the pitch, as there is a prize for a "fan favorite." Conversely, if you head over there and decide that the pitch is terrible, tell me about it in the comments. This is a learning experience for me, and I want to hear all the good and all the bad.

Hello supporters!

I wanted to update you all on some especially wonderful news: Luci's Let Down has been nominated in three categories at the Stumptown Comics Festival in Portland, OR. Two of those categories belong to all of you: Best Publication Design and Best Small Press. That work would have been impossible without your wonderful support. We've also got a nomination for Best New Talent.

Please consider voting for Luci by following this link. And if you know anyone else with an email address who enjoys registering his or her opinion, send them the link as well! Stumptown will send you a confirmation link, so head's up that the vote won't count unless you click the confirmation link.

Since our last update, Luci's gotten some wonderful reviews from folks on the web. You can see some here, here, here, and here! 

In the mean time, Luci is continuing her tour at indie comic festivals. We'll be at MoCCAfest in NYC April 28 and 29 and I've got confirmation that we will have a booth again at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD.

Dear Friends,

After some (ahem) exciting and instructive moments with the printers, Luci has arrived! And much like the anecdotes I've heard about motherhood, she's just so darn beautiful and perfect I've forgot the labor pains (AKA fixing file formats well past midnight)  it took to get her here.  But my delivery was 700 lbs, so, you know, top that moms.

As I hoped, the quality at which we printed these on is the minimum worthy of Sandra's brilliant illustration and I fell in love with her work all over again. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to do this project with the support of Kickstarter because we don't have to be at the mercy of a publishing company to do what we are trying to do. I want to again thank you all for supporting us and for being a part of this platform here at Kickstarter that has done so much to free up artistic expression from its usual constraints.  I know I'm not the only writer who has to reconcile the fact that she lives in a world where a ghostwritten book from a cast member of The Jersey Shore is on best-sellers list (with all respect if you are a fan!) but access to something like Kickstarter and support from folks like you makes it palatable ;-)

As we begin shipping these out this week, I sincerely hope you find something that speaks to you in this book. Feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you like and what you hate.

I've sent out a survey requesting shipping information. While the books won't be shipping for a few weeks, I would like to be able to include your name in the acknowledgement section of the book. If you could respond to the survey by 8AM (Eastern Time) of Friday, July 29, we'll be able to get you in there! You'll notice that there is a separate field for how you want to be named in the book, in case you want the name in the book to be different from the name in the shipping address.
