Marissa Nadler Discography
- Ballads Of Living and Dying (2004)
- The Saga of Mayflower May (2005)
- Songs III: Bird On The Water (2007)
- Little Hells (2009)
"An intoxicating soprano that in mythological times, could have lured men to their deaths at sea, an intoxicating soprano drenched in gauzy reverb that hits bell-clear heights, lingers, and tapers off like rings of smoke". - The Boston Globe
"Surrounded by little else but her own melancholy, Nadler sums up her career's existential despair: 'Ghosts and lovers/ They will haunt you for a while,' she sings. And while they do, Little Hells suggests through 10 of Nadler's best songs yet, the sadness will either kill you or keep you going" - Pitchfork Media

Thanks for the covers album! It is so lovely. I agree with Deb - it is a betrayal. Marissa didn't have to share this with us and because we supported her with the making of this album she thought it would be nice to share. She asked for us to not share the link with others and instead someone did exactly that. It's a shame.
Love the work, congratulations!
the covers album is absolutely beautiful. so sorry that someone betrayed your trust -- yeah, strong word, but it is what it is -- by leaking. thank you for making it available to us.

Thank you Marissa, I got my LP+CD today.Gorgeous&inspiring music, as usual.
Hope to see you play live in Italy one day.
Keep on dreaming.
Sonia
Hi Marissa,
I have received the album, thank you so much! It sounds wonderful, and like everyone else here, I'm so proud that we were a part of it. Keep on keeping on. xx Sophie
Hi Marissa,
The album just arrived - listening to it right now. It's wonderful, really gorgeous - definitely your best to date! Any chance you'll becoming to Paris again soon?
Cheers,
David
I just got my Album & CD today! Wow! It's amazing! So beautiful! Like Mazzy Star and Lucinda Williams all met a Calexico's studio and made something great! I'm very proud to be part of this! Kudos!
Hey! I have been getting a lot of sweet comments about still wanting to contribute. Email me at marissamoon6@hotmail.com!
Dearest Miss Marissa,
Ever since a friend of mine played to me your music, I have loved your enchanting, mystical, serene and beautiful songs and your voice... I have loved to them, and also lost love too, with you there still singing softly... all throughout this time i was within the greatest and most immense grace and yearning... a peace which i feel you have shown me... and in a way that you showed me can sometimes come from love that is gone....
I have also written many songs, to guide me through love's unbearable burdens...though however much i was swayed by the fickle and sombre melancholy, i still shined, for superimposed through the depths of my heart was the eternally burning sounds of your music.. it was a beacon of salvation to rescue my consciousness from the pits of desolation.
Anyway beyond all that~
Thank you for being you! To me your music is a sacred, spiritual, magical romance... a subliminal timeless gift... a transcendent loving journey... words can not express what your music means to me.
I have had the most beautiful experiences, and yet the most painful to the heart with many of your songs as the score, somehow perfectly unified... like a movie, or a dream...
I would love to have the opportunity to share with you some of me~ i would love to contribute- financially or whatever i can.. It seems that is not possible however as it appears the time limit is now up.. unfortunately i only just stumbled across this site... I wish i had of found this earlier :(
I would love to give more to you for you have given so much to me....additionally, i don't know what to do with my songs, they should have been recorded in their moment (with all the wailing and crying etc.. ;) I guess now they are useless to me as they hold onto those old feelings too much, i needed them to go some how on their journey by recording them i thought so i could be free so much emotion has unwound from me now though... perhaps one day those songs will fly...
Well I live in Australia along the east coast, if you ever come here (promise me you will), many of us folk would be ever so blessed to hear you perform!
If it is not too late i would be so happy to send you some money and I would be very happy to hear your new music!!!
You are such a beautiful person Marissa!!! once again Thank you! :D
Glad you were able to receive such a surplus past your initial minimum goal. I'm a broke graduate student but I gladly donated to the cause. I'd rather have my money go to one of my favorite artists than have it wasted on fancy clothing, pricey dinners, etc. Each can of beans I eat the next month I'll have this project to inspire me and look forward to.
Can't wait to hear it when it comes out!
I can mail things to Russia and anywhere else there is!!! :-)
Hi there. I would reealy love to make a donation but I'm not sure about this shipping thing. Is it still ok as long as I live in Russia? (therefore, sorry for my bad english)
It seems a shame that a talent like you should need to raise funds this way. Such is the fickle music industry. I am thrilled though that you're still at it and look forward to new music from you. Caught both of your shows in Minneapolis last year. Wonderful.
Tom
Patrick- send me an email!! Merci!!
Lol I already sent you an e-cheque via Paypal.. but how do I pay with Paypal through Kickstarter? It just asks for a major credit card.
Whoops! Actually, just make the donations through kickstarter here! Email me if you have any questions, though, send me an email at marissamoon6@hotmail.com!!
Thank you all so so so so much for your help! You are the best!
Patrick and other people who may not have a credit card! Paypal yes at marissamoon6@hotmail.com
Thanks so much!
Congratulations, Marissa! Your music has impacted my life so much, and I am SO thrilled that this new album is going to happen!! Also I have plenty to donate, but I don't have a credit card. ;( Is Paypal an option?
Good luck with the recording, Marissa! Can't wait to hear it. Come play in Israel when it's promoting time :)
Recently, Marissa kindly recorded an interview for my show on London's Different Class Radio. Our chat mainly focuses on her Kickstarter project, but covers other topics too. To listen to it, please go here: http://www.differentclassradio.co.uk/… (after you've pledged some money to her, of course!)
Hi Marissa. So glad you reached your goal and glad to be of (admittedly small!) assistance. Your previous albums, especially the last 2, have been so very, very special that it makes me a little sad that recording your next has proved so difficult. Your voice is one of the most mesmerizing around and you use it perfectly. I can't wait to hear the new album, good luck with it, and well done for finding a way to make it happen.
Thank you all so much for the nice words! I'm shocked! If you have have any questions I can answer them for you!! xox <3
Mike. That is a good question. No, it is not region specific. I factored in the costs of shipping but you can pledge whatever you want. Thank you!
Is this region specific?
I only ask as I imagine the cost of shipping abroad will eat into any profits you actually make from the pledge. I'd be happy to pledge a bit more to cover the costs but with the fixed price levels that doesn't really seem possible...?
very excited that this worked out.
A done deal !!!!! :))))))
Congratulations Marissa! Fully funded and with 32 days to go - impressive!
Kickstart, is a fantastic idea
Bestest of Luck Marrissa
Greetings from Wales

I never heard of Marissa before, but found this while browsing kickstarter and made a pledge.
I found out about kickstarter when Musopen (http://www.musopen.org/) had a funding drive here.
I'm glad to see Marissa getting away from the record labels, but I would like to ask her to consider also getting away from the excessively long and restrictive copyright laws which they have foisted on the public, by using a Creative Commons license such as the Founder's Copyright (http://creativecommons.org/projects/founderscopyright).
Hi Marissa,
You have a great talent.
So, I hope this funding operation will work. I am really excited to the idea to discover these new songs soon !
Sweet kisses from Paris,
With My sincere friendship
Dominic
Hi Marissa,
This is a great idea! Good luck and can't wait to hear the album :-)
Cheers!!
Hi Marissa~
I am so excited for you! I really feel encouraged by your courage and success, it's a contagious magnetism. I know you are probably already using Helena Espvall since she lives in Philadelphia, but I would also love to be involved if you need cello~! Sincerely, Serena
This really is the way forwards for artists. This is the first time I've pledged for such a project and it's such a cool idea. Really easy to do. It's no different to 'pre-ordering' an album on Amazon or whatever...you just have to be a bit more patient til it arrives! Awesome.
I know you can do it! Good luck!
I have a friend with a really high quality studio (that I helped co-found) in the Boston area. I could try and make some phone calls to see if I could pull some special pricing for you if you're interested. Might save you some money since you won't have to travel too. Its one of the better studios in the Boston area overall.
Just an idea. Maybe you could cut some things there at least and take them to Philly for mixing if you really like that place?
Pleased to be able to help you Marissa and just sorry it could n't be more. (Although if you're really close come December 8th I might try and squeeze a bit extra.....)
Best of luck.
I love your music, Marissa! I hope you are able to reach your goal and make the album you want to make. :)
It is going to happen!!
Oh my tree's Marissa Nadler. Ive been on high peaks, seen moon's fill the horizon, and made love on deep autumn Atlantic beaches, but you are the most stunningly beautiful being that any man could ever glance at.
Typo below = coffee time.
Gabriel- Just for clarification, the physical copy means a CD and I should make the clearer. Thank you all so mcuh for you help so far. I really have my fingers crossed!!!
Just for clarification under The Ballard Funders: "a physical copy of the new album..."
???
Does that mean a choice of vinyl or cd?
I'd love to pledge for some vinyl, so I just wanna make sure I go about it right. Fantastic video, and you'll easily reach your goal. If only more artists were ambitious to kickstart their album. Thanks
Good luck with the recording. A new album can't come quickly enough!
Can't wait to hear all the new songs Marissa x
I wanted to say as someone who also struggles with shyness that from hearing your albums I was deeply impacted and in a way it inspired me to find my own voice. I am absolutely going to support this amazing kickstarter and I do not know if you read this but I am truly grateful for what you have done and the inspiration you brought forth in me. You truly are an incredible artist and deserve this amazing funding success.
