I've been over here trying to think of a way to thank everyone for donating, since y'all won't be getting your rewards until at least May. What could I possibly give, I wondered? And then I remembered that this IS a photography project, and I know a thing or two about that. Knowledge: The Greatest Free Gift.
So, in the spirit of the way education and knowledge has played an important part in the LCF's conservation, I'm going to add in a bonus reward for anyone who backs us (whether a dollar or five hundred):
Ask me and my camera anything (keep it clean and all that), and I'll share everything I know on video, and post it as an update.
Ask me about how I shoot, what lenses I use, what settings I use, how I photoshop, or tips for shooting kids. Or, ask me what my favorite ice cream is, how many pairs of shoes I own, or for my awesome secret baked macaroni and cheese recipe.
If you've already backed, feel free to ask a question, too. Either email me or post the question in the comments here. mariah@mariahgale.com
It's a small way to say thank you! x
This project successfully raised its funding goal on April 5, 2010.

Ralph went straight for the secret recipe! I'll answer that after Laurie's question, and provide some images with step-by-steps. ;) Stay tuned.
Best of luck in your travels!
My question concerns portraits. I'm pretty good at shooting items, but not people. What sort of methods or techniques do you use to get people to be themselves in front of the camera? Does it take a lot of shooting to get a few good portraits? If someone has already emailed you a similar question, I'll ask, as a panic backup, what are your favorite pair of shoes?
Hi Cory! I'll answer that tonight for you. The portraits, and the shoes :)
