There is nothing like returning home, as it remains unchanged, only to find ways in which you have profoundly altered. 

PROJECT:  moonless, a science fiction short-film, seeks finishing funds for a HD telecine, color grading and visual effects. moonless was filmed in early 2012 in San Francisco, on top Mt. Davidson. The story centers around a space traveler.  The traveler and her companions are increasingly apprehensive about returning to Earth after a long exploration. The film mixes film formats - 16mm, medium format still photography, and archival images. We are currently editing to complete and submit to film festivals in July 2012. moonless is a film about returning home and how difficult it can be to fit in your old shoes.  

moonless is the first film in a series of shorts about identity, specifically how one fits In This World.  The In This World series is followed by space(d) (post production) and orbits (shooting in September 2012).  All three films are self-contained although tied thematically. They also share the same day.

NEED: Okay so I admit it we went over budget.  We raised $5000 on our own and like the filmmakers we are we went slightly over budget. (see chart)

“One more,” will get me every time. Although we shot a little more than budgeted by adding a tiny spaceship and shooting a couple more feet of film, it was worth it.

SYNOPSIS: A space traveler's reluctance overflows as her hosts return her home. She rails against the inevitable. Her companions grow ever more despondent. As the journey completes their hosts relegate them to a life they know too well on Earth.

CURRENT STATUS: Editing final cut.

NEXT STEP: Integrating spaceship, sound design, film composition.

FINAL PHASE: Submit to film festivals and private screening.
