Marcus D's authentic attempt at bridging the gap between the growing worlds of video game music and hip-hop.

I started this project because above all else, the samples used, created so much influential nostalgia that it reminded me of the reasons I started making music to begin with. 

Before I ever started making beats or even learned to play piano, my older brother was given a SNES. From the first moment a controller was put in my hands, a defining impact was stamped into my ear for music. 

I am not alone. And this project is for the millions who were raised on 16 bit. This is for the millions who have heard the incredible compositions, created on less than capable technology (but nonetheless brilliant songs) and have kept them in a special place in their memory.

This is for every butchered video game theme that has been disappointingly held hostage with sub par production, by even lower "artists".

I am asking you once again to support me in another project, one that is for an incredible step in my artistic endeavors and an album that will be uniquely me and profoundly you. Join me in something that will cross cultures and borders, and ultimately something that you can say "I was a part of this".

Logistics:

As always, your pledges will be used to help cover the costs of creating the album and anything having to do with the album:

  • mixing
  • mastering
  • manufacturing
  • album cover and art design
  • videos
  • shipping costs
  • posters
  • the buying of the video games
  • promotion
  • etc

If there are any funds left over, they will either be used to enhance this project further, or to start the creation of the 2nd Retro'd; I won't be pocketing your hard-earned dollars and hitting the arcade...I promise...spoony bards.

Anyway, thank you for your continued support in every step of my musical career, and I look forward to creating another work of art with you all. You keep listening and I'll keep going.
