About this project

These six "Deep Vistas" poster maps are all thematically linked around a fantasy adventure campaign set in the dark reaches below ground. Each one is 22 x 34 inches in size, created with a 1-inch grid built into the design for miniatures gameplay. My goal with these maps is to empower table-top gamers--roleplayers and miniatures gamers alike--to create a cohesive adventure and skirmish environment within these related locations:

The Stalactite Gate and Slave Pits maps connect to depict a fungus-shrouded mine accessed through a secure gatehouse surrounded by a deep chasm that separates the jailers from a great underground prison where captives are locked in pits and cages. The perfect setting for a fantasy jailbreak scene!

The Chapel of Scarabs and Dark Elf Courtyard maps fit together to form an massive fortress and temple complex featuring elevated walkways and parapets, grand stairways, arrow holes in the walls, and a pit filled with beetles. Grates in the floors allow crafty GMs to bring forth deadly swarms, and a matching cage lift allows these maps to be connected to those mentioned above. With multiple copies of the maps you can even place them back-to-back or side-to-side for a seamless battle of truly epic proportions!

The Silent Garden represents an ancient dark elf sepulcher festooned with a creepy mix of stalactites, webs, and open caskets. It could be a secret hiding spot for heroes on the run, or a nightmarish tomb full of horrors to be unleashed! (Or both...)

Finally, the Chasm Bridge presents a vast span over a chasm of flowing magma, with a defensive gatehouse and immense doors that will need to be opened before the heroes can hope to pass. A terrain card included with the poster will allow you to convert the intact bridge into one broken down the middle!

In the past I've produced one double-sided poster at a time, but the close relationship between these maps compels me to produce them all at the same time. The expense is more than I can handle on my own, without knowing if there's enough public support to make it profitable--but with Kickstarter this could become a reality! The funding from this Kickstarter-based pre-order drive will be used to cover the cost of professional printing on heavy glossy poster stock, as well as the packaging and inclusion of a terrain card for each poster. It also allows me to offer free shipping to all backers! (Note: This offer includes worldwide shipping to overseas backers, but if overseas supporters wish to pledge a little extra to help cover the international shipping expense, it would be greatly appreciated.)

When the funding period is complete, I'll contact everyone to request their shipping address and immediately send the images to the printer to get this project underway; backers will be sent their posters as soon as the finished posters return to me; probably within the month of February.

Deep Vistas I will feature the Stalactite Gate and Chapel of Scarabs on opposite sides.
Deep Vistas II will do the same with the Slave Pits and Dark Elf Courtyard.
Deep Vistas III will offer the Silent Garden and Chasm Bridge.

Each backer at any level will also receive, in addition to each of the listed rewards, access to a high-resolution PDF copy of these individual maps.

Unlike my previous posters, these printed maps will not have an overlay of colored terrain type indicators, leaving GMs free to decide how to interpret the different landscape features in their games. However, a PDF version of the maps with those terrain line indicators in place will be made available to backers in addition to the unlined PDF mentioned above!

A note about additional rewards: My first poster, "Mass Transit", is nearly sold out at my map store, so if you select that map as one of your additional rewards at the $46 level or higher, there's a chance it will not be available and a substitution might be necessary, depending on the number of backers before you that selected it. If that happens, I'll contact you for an alternate choice.

Finally, an extra copy of any Deep Vista poster can be substituted, if you prefer, for any other poster map or terrain card set mentioned in the rewards; for example, at the $66 level, you can get two complete sets of Deep Vista posters instead of 1 set plus three different posters from my map store. The choice is yours.
