Nathan Manske is the creator and editor of the LGBT, true-stories blog "I’m From Driftwood" and a freelance copywriter. He is indeed from Driftwood, Texas, but has lived in Brooklyn, New York since 2003. For creating IFD, Manske was selected as one of The Advocate's "Forty Under 40" (http://www.advocate.com/printArticle.aspx…). His inclusion, along with the others on the list of "young activists, artists, and other standouts" was described by the publication as “proof the qualities that make a leader are often innate—and that the gay movement is still in good hands.” IFD also gained notable recognition from other on- and offline media outlets including The Austin Chronicle's "Best of 2009", Instinct Magazine (http://instinctmagazine.com/features/i%E2%80%99m-from-driftwood-s-nathan-manske), NPR, AfterElton (http://www.afterelton.com/people/2009/11/nathan-manske), Andrew Sullivan, Towleroad (http://www.towleroad.com/2009/03/im-from-river-forest-illinois.html), Queerty, Houston Press, and The Austin American-Statesman (http://shopping.statesman.com/SS/Page.aspx…;).
Before creating I’m From Driftwood, he spent 4 years as a full-time copywriter, working first at Hanft Raboy & Partners, then Berlin Cameron & Partners, and has fortunately been able to combine his personal passions with his profession. His Chemistry.com television commercials raised awareness as well as eyebrows by taking on eHarmony’s discriminatory policies towards gays and lesbians. eHarmony has since changed their policies. He also found a way to actually get paid for being a geek by writing the third X-Men film’s interactive website for 20th Century Fox. Other work has included Match.com, in the U.S. and the UK, Lincoln, VitaminWater, Sony, Comcast, Howard Johnson’s, Diet Pepsi, Hertz, and Showtime. Nathan received an Advertising degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
This is an absolutely amazing effort you are making and I will be following your updates.

I am so pleased this important project is going forward. Thank you for your work and your initiative.
Congratulations Nathan and Marquise! I'm looking forward to the next phase!
Nathan, I am so glad I could help you, and wish I could have done more. You have already done much to tell the stories of some of us out here in the hinterlands, and I am excited that you will be adding the video component to that important work.
Congratulations Nathan! This has got to be so exciting for you! This project is going to positively influence lesbian and gay people all over the country in a very direct manner. Hopefully, it will also greatly influence many people who are not gay, regardless of their social and political views. I really look forward to seeing how those outside of the LGBT community are influenced by this project; I think it has the ability to bring many people together on a collective front. I'm so happy you made your goal. Kudos to you and every one of your amazing supporters.
OH NATE !! AWESOME !!! (I could add another one)
I'm so happy for you ! Considering so many young gay people are
feeling so lonely and even doing like Bobby Griffith.
Let's hope there will be less Bobby Griffiths by this project !
I hope your trip will be wonderful and blessed !
I hope you'll do the same for GayGroupsTube-YT-channel
( http://www.youtube.com/GayGroupsTube ) as for Homophobiawatch and Holebis below..

So happy to support your project. I have a friend that volunteers for the Trevor Project, and he often tells the youth he talks to about your site... It's bringing peace and hope to lots of people. Bravo!
I donated what I had available which wasn't much but I passed the site onto a friend that works for Broadway Impact and it's posted to all their members. I see you're beyond the goal and I hope we can manage to make your trip easier or extend it as much as possible. You're doing great work Nathan!
I am making sure that my students who need to see and hear such stories know about the I'm From Driftwood" site. It is an excellent resource, especially in a region of MA notorious for its socially conservative political leanings.
If life ever starts to get me down - all I have to do is click on the "i'm from driftwood" website and think about what you are doing to make this world brighter, and it makes my day!!!
Thanks for all you do!! The world is better with you in it!!
"I'm From Driftwood" was a lifeline for me when I discovered it... the thought of it being the same to countless others across the United States is profoundly moving - voices heard, hearts touched, lives saved... thanks!
I'm going to try and get some money together, see how much I can pledge. It won't be much, but I'll also try to spread the word, get a link passed around, and all that. I'd really, really like to see this succeed, but with only a little over 1/3 of the funding, and only 3 weeks more to go, I'm worried it won't! If anyone else happens to be checking out this project's comments, please pass the link around as well! If we can spread the word enough, we should be able to make this happen!
This is an amazing project. I wish I could pledge more. Good luck!
