About this project
Thank you all for taking the time to check out our project. We will be recording a studio album and a live DVD this coming spring/summer and we're excited to share our music with you. We're hoping that after reading this and watching our video, you will believe in our vision as much as we do. Please show your support, and check out the cool incentives we're providing for anyone who contributes.
For the past two years, we have been playing shows throughout New York City, including our weekly residency in Times Square, which has resulted in our growth as a band and musical family. With your help we hope to raise enough money for our project. Here are some details on how your generous contributions will be put to use:
We’ll be able to record our album at a professional recording studio in NYC. We're currently working on booking dates to record and mix.
Our live DVD will be shot during a performance at a venue in New York City. This includes recording the audio and video as well as editing, mixing and mastering.
Packaging for both projects. Of course, the finished product needs to match the quality of the music. Art and package design by Nico Curtis (http://www.nicocurtis.com) will accomplish these goals. Printing, duplication and packaging production costs make up a significant portion of our budget.
We also plan to hire a publicist to help with press and promotions, as well as allocate funds for merchandising, and marketing.

Manner Effect is comprised of adventurous, talented and diverse young musicians on the NY music scene. They're dedicated to presenting their original compositions and arrangements, always shedding new light on classics and keeping things fresh and funky. Whether it's a jazz standard or a neo-soul groove, Manner Effect keeps audiences and listeners engaged and eager for more.
Individually, they have traveled and performed in venues and festivals the world over, including Switzerland, Japan, United Kingdom, St. Thomas and throughout the United States. They have had the opportunity to work and play with jazz greats, such as Fred Hersch, Billy Hart, Mulgrew Miller, Paquito D'Rivera, Jack DeJohnette, Danilo Perez, Randy Brecker, Kurt Elling, Stefon Harris, Sheila Jordan, James Carter, Rodney Whitaker, Wess Anderson and Junior Mance.
The members of Manner Effect have received many accolades including winning international jazz competitions and Downbeat Magazine music awards. Their talents as instrumentalists and composers have brought them to esteemed national programs such as the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program, Jazz Aspen Snowmass Academy, and the Fred Hersch's Solo, Duo, Trio Workshop at Carnegie Hall. Manner Effect is currently based out of New York City.
