Nothing mellow with Mallow
Hello backers!
Wanted to keep you in the loop of happenings in The Mallow Bar/Mallow Crunchies world:
1. Our mugs are in! For those of you who pledged in the "Mug of Mallow" category, you will receive one of these beauties as soon as the cafe door opens. Everyone else will still be able to indulge in these made-for-marshmallow mugs through purchase. Take a look at the shot of them below.
2. Our shirts are designed! For those of you who pledged in the "Mallow Out" category, you will receive one of these awesomely designed, trend-setting shirts when the cafe door opens. Take a peak at the talented t-shirt work of our designer below (female version). We'll request size and address info soon.
3. Some color has gone on the cafe walls and it's looking good. When it's complete I will post pics! :-)
4. We are on the move! In addition to our regular tasks of farmers markets and providing product for stores, we've been busy. Since our last update Mallow Crunchies have popped up at outdoor festivals and fundraising events (we did the Farmer & the Chef to benefit Days of Taste. Check out this great org for kids here: http://www.thefarmerandthechefmd.com/days-of-taste-1) . We attended two big trade shows (Candy Expo in Atlantic City and the Natural Products Expo here in Baltimore). We've been asked to partner with deal sites such as Groupon and ZipCar. We've entered contests like the Daily Candy "Start Small Go Big" business contest (we didn't make it, but our friends at Quinn Popcorn WON!! They have an awesome product. Check it out here: www.quinnpopcorn.com. Honestly the best microwave popcorn I've ever tasted ). We became SEMIFINALISTS in the Dell "America's Favorite Small Business Contest" (but didn't make it to the final round. That one hurt as the prize was 75K and an online reality show!). We were called and asked to go to the next round for the ABC TV show Shark Tank (but ultimately did not make it to the final round). We provided wedding favors, beautifully packaged to an awesome couple. We've provided gifts for a birthday party. We've been asked to speak on the topic of business at a SCORE meeting early next year (yikes!). We've been interviewed by Maryland Public TV (see pics below). This should air next month. We are featured in the current issue of Urbanite Magazine (http://www.urbanitebaltimore.com/), we will be featured in the Baltimore Times next week, and have been invited to provide snacks for a multitude of events. Just think when the cafe opens, we will really start to get busy. :-)
Just wanted to give you a snippet of the-day-in-the-life. If I've taken a while to get back to any of you on anything, my sincerest apologies, but please see above. :-)
