Update #2: Success!

Posted on January 19, 2011

Hello everyone! Make.Shift and WhAAM want to thank you for helping us raise more than $12,000 through Kickstarter! The funding will help us renovate our new, shared space at 111 Unity Street, in addition to supporting current programming.

Our Kickstarter fundraiser, which closed Jan. 15, surpassed our initial goal of $8,500 by more than 40 percent, and received broad support from the community, with 150 backers. The vast majority of donations were under $50.

We'd also like to thank Saturna Capital and its employees Ryan Rickerts and Jacob Stewart for their substantial year-end donations to the project, totaling $4,500.

**IF YOU DONATED: We sent you a Kickstarter email survey asking for your address information, t-shirt size, etc. Please fill it out so we can send you some wonderful donor rewards!

We're eager to start work on the space, but opening day still depends on several factors, including gathering the materials we'll need.

Here are some things we still need. Both organizations are 501c3 nonprofit, and all materials donations are tax-deductible:

* 100 10-foot 2×6’s
* 12 sheets of OSB
* Plenty of R-19 insulation
* 6 sheets 12-foot extruded metal roofing (any color)
* New or used bathroom stalls/doors. (2 standard, 2 wheelchair accessible.)
* 4 new toilets (Available at Hardware Sales: Toto brand “Eco Promenade” model preferred, model no: CST424EF#01)
* 30 sheets of 5/8ths sheetrock
* Two push-bar, ADA-compliant fire doors
* 40 gallons un-tinted flat interior paint
* Cigarette receptacle (pole or wall mounted)
* Outdoor flood lights (2) or other similar outdoor lights
* 20 Paint rollers/ 20 brushes
* 10 Rolls painter’s plastic

We've have partnered with the ReStore to acquire as many used, re-purposed or recycled materials possible. We still need help from donors to fill in the blanks.

To make a materials donation, visit Bellingham's Hardware Sales and ask for the WhAAM/Make.Shift materials registry, or just purchase an item and leave it for WhAAM or Make.Shift at will-call. Questions can be directed to (510) 499-0535 or info@makeshiftproject.com.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING SUPPORT!

Update #1: Woah! We're half way there!
