After self-producing my 6 albums to date I am exhilarated to share this wonderful news: for the first time in my music career I have the opportunity to collaborate with a Multi-Platinum music producer, Ron Nevison (The Who, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones) and Grammy award winning keyboardist, composer, arranger Jeff Bova (Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton) as well as with some of the most sought-after musicians in the recording industry.
WHY THIS IS A BIG DEAL
In the past, I walked away from a number of major label and corporate management deals in order to maintain the integrity of my art. It’s been a challenging road to grow a music career without any substantial funding. I've actually managed every detail of my entire career up until very recently! Thankfully through a new management partner, I've been introduced to some great record producers and musicians, who are now involved with the making of my dream record- a collection of my new body of original songs in a beautiful fusion of the myriad of styles I've come to be known for: Hawaiian slack key, folk, rock, and world music influences.
MY VISION FOR THIS RECORD
The music will integrate the beauty of slack key into my own contemporary style. It will be a powerful and inspiring work relevant to each of us and our time. This innovative album will showcase the very best of my playing, writing, singing and songcraft. With everything on track, we will be able to release the record by Summer 2013!
THE COST OF THIS PROJECT
Because we are keen to avoid corporate fiddling in the artistic process, I am appealing to our community for the money to pay for the costs of making this record, which include:
- Producer’s fees
- Recording studio costs (In the past I've worked mostly in local or home studios, but this material and vision require a world class facility and engineer for the highest outcomes)
- Studio musicians
- Equipment rental
- Graphics and art design
- Travel (lodging, transportation, etc)
The minimum budget to produce the record, including all of the above items, is about $50,000. I'm setting the goal at $25,000 because Kickstarter's policy is that the minimum goal MUST be reached in order for any of the funds to be obtained. I'm also working a ton (gigging and licensing songs) to save enough to make this happen! So if (I mean when) we reach our goal, any money generated above the production costs will be applied to the marketing and promotion of the record.

The challenge of this project is attempting to achieve what a major label artist can achieve in terms of production quality and support, but with community backing instead of corporate backing. The risk is not pulling
