Cacao has shipped from Chiapas!

Update #15 · Feb 25, 2012 · comment

Exciting news! Our batch of cacao just left Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico, bound for Hawaii. We're so happy that after months of hard work by the cacao grower Don Isidro in Huehuetan, the CASFA organic cacao cooperative, the shippers, and Dave going through reams and reams of import paperwork, we finally have the cacao starting it's several-thousand-mile journey to us to be turned in tasty chocolate bars representing the OC (original chocolate) of the Maya. If all goes well at the borders, customs, & ports, we should have the cacao in Hawaii in 2-3 weeks and then we'll start the several-month-long process of turning it into chocolate in 65 lb batches. Of course, all of you will get your reward bars from the very first batch of the heirloom royal Criollo chocolate that comes out of the conch.

We thank you all again for all your support and patience and we'll update you as the cacao makes its journey across land & sea.
