Two friends, a car salesman and an auto mechanic, attempt to realize their fate as DEMON HUNTERS in this supernatural dark comedy.
ABOUT DAMAGED GOODS
Damaged Goods is a supernatural dark comedy series intended for television which features two friends, Paul Miter (car salesman) and Nick Ciennes (auto mechanic) who after a shared tragedy are immersed in a battle of celestial proportions. Their newfound abilities and haunting encounters force them to spiral towards realizing their fate as DEMON HUNTERS. Through blood, gore, sweat, tears, and a little more gore, they learn to embrace their brush with the occult and follow a path that leads them to the Gates of Hell itself.
Paul and Nick’s friendship and sanity will be tested over and again by the forces of darkness, coupled with the everyday hardships of operating a San Fernando Valley used auto dealership / repair shop while overcoming their own personal demons. With no sign of divine intervention in sight, an evil omen in the form of diabolical corporate media interests rises and seeks to corrupt the very fabric of humanity.
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. It is our intention to ask for your help in realizing this dark journey that will test the limits of morality, satire, mythology, and human destiny. Thank you.

A note from Jacob Voelzke & Chris Buch:
Hi. It means a lot to us that you're here. The two of us have been friends and partners in creative endeavors for about 15 years now, and we've never felt as strongly about a project we've conceived than this. We love what we do and will sacrifice whatever we have to entertain and enlighten people. However, we would not be here without the sacrifice and willingness of our dear friends and family, who have seen us through thick and thin so that we may live the dream. Now, we are asking for your help and sacrifice once again to make Damaged Goods a reality.
Damaged Goods was an idea that we conceived about 4 years ago, and then in February of 2010 we began the first draft of a tv pilot episode to depict the series as a whole. What we found was that we could not stop contributing ideas, content, characters, and epic plotlines to the original idea, so we amassed what we call "the Bible", a 200-page-and-counting collaboration of concepts, universal guidelines, occult research, historical references, character bios, and other information pertaining to the series we envisioned. Once we felt comfortable with the level of background research and general outlines, we decided to formulate a plan to get to the filming of the tv pilot.
Television ain't easy, brah. These things cost money. Webisodes are much more realistic as a starting point. So we wrote a handful of scripts intended solely for the web that help to build an understanding of the quirky and dark universe we've been preparing to unleash. The first webisode, "Mighty Miter Automotive", is what we are seeking funding for first, as we feel it is the best starting point for the story. We don't want to give too much away, but we can tell you that you will see a taste of the double lives that Nick and Paul must live as they haplessly begin to embrace their fate as Demon Hunters.
We understand that $15,900 is no small sum. However, it is as bare-boned a budget we can get to provide the highest quality product we can produce. We want to be totally transparent with you, as you are the ones making this possible, so here's where the money is going:
- EQUIPMENT (camera, lighting, locations, insurance): $2,850 X 2 days = $5,700
- CREW (22 people total): $2,925 X 2 days = $5,850
- CATERING/CRAFT SERVICES: $425 X 2 days = $850
- EXPENDABLES (SFX makeup costume design*, art dept. props, misc.): $2,500
- POST PRODUCTION (Editing, Post Audio, VFX, Color Correction): $1,000
-
GRAND TOTAL= $15,900
So as you can see, the budget reflects all the costs needed for a fully-equipped, 22-person film crew for two (2) days of filming, and it's pretty modest. You'll notice the star* next to SFX makeup costume design. That's so that we can bring you full-costumed, practical monsters and gore. CG monsters are weak, and our creature designer and SFX makeup crew have some amazing talent that needs to bleed on screen. We also want our crew as a whole to go home compensated for their hard work. They do, after all, have families to feed and rent to pay. Some productions opt to pull endless "favors" but real professionals can't always settle for free work. We need these professionals to deliver a professional product.
If we exceed our target goal, we have more webisodes in the pipeline and the funds will go directly towards the next one in line. We don't want profit at this point. We want to see this go somewhere. We want to build something from nothing.
Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or just want to yap at us. We wouldn't be here if we didn't want to give everyone the chance to be a part of this with us. From the bottoms of our dark, shriveled hearts... Thank you.
