We're making a ton of games, old-school, DIY style. We want you to have them.
We're starting off with seven games. We might end up with more. But we're going on a binge of awesome micro games. We're trying to up the ante on what we're doing with Machine Age this year. We're doing four, maybe five more conventions in 2012 to build some attention and help people have fun. But to make that happen, we really need to stretch beyond our shoestring budget. That's where you come in. We're making all these micro games, and selling them here on Kickstarter to make up that budgetary difference.
Most of these are games you might have already seen. But, we're redoing them, giving new layout, new content, and totally fresh printing. It'll be super DIY, involving duct tape, staples, lamination, and all that jazz. Kicking it old school, as the kids would have it. Additionally, each game has a Micro Stretch Goal, which kicks in if that game sells 20 copies. These are little kickers to make your micro game that much cooler.
We even have some levels where we'll make your game. You pitch us a micro game, and we'll make it. Pretty cool, right?
About the Games
We're doing seven games to start, plus any pitches we get at the $100+ levels. Then, there's some stretch goal games.
Fuck Armageddon
Fuck the apocalypse. Fuck demons. Fuck failure. Fuck everything.
Fuck Armageddon is a game about destroying threats before they destroy you. Because the world doesn’t get to end until you say it does. This isn’t post-apocalyptic; it’s punk-apocalyptic.
This game, if you haven't noticed, is very profane. If you want the censored version, check it out. Search for "F*** Armageddon, No Shit Remix". Also, if you want to contribute as a thanks for our giving this away, you can buy that version.- The game's simple. It uses d4s, d6s, d8s, d10s, d12s, and d20s.
- It requires no GM.
- It requires no prep.
- It's basically a game about smashing in the heads of monsters. Because.
- We think Punk-Apocalyptic sounds cool.
- The art is mostly hand-drawn by a guy that can't draw. This is meant as a feature, not a bug.
Kicking Historical Asses
Are you tired of evil stuff? Do you think it needs to be kicked right back to hell? Then you're in the right place.
The problem is, your character isn't. You see, your character is from today. And your character gets shipped back to some undetermined point in a vaguely medieval Europe where magic is probably real and people really don't like modern English. To get home, they have to fight all the evil stuff that's slated to take over the universe at any minute.
Kicking Historical Asses is a fast and simple game, specifically designed for one-shots, but that can easily support extended games. At a whopping 20 pages, you should be able to read it with your group, make characters, and be ready to play within an hour.
Inspired by Army of Darkness and Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, the system is made for humor and heroics. In fact, if the players aren't laughing, they're failing at the game.
I Could Make You Care
I Could Make You Care is not about healthy relationships. This is a
personal experiment I felt I should share. It’s not about healthy people.
It’s not about feel-good stories. It’s about relationships where one side
(or both) ends broken. It's about abuse. It's about manipulating another person to get what you want out of them, regardless of their own wants and needs. It's a game for two players.
Die Doing Something Great
People, who, for various reasons, sold their souls to devils. They've got some powers. They'll live as long as they live. But when they die, they're going to Hell.
In theory, there's only one way to save themselves: Die doing something great. Die destroying evil.
So, they hunt evil, in one form or another. They throw themselves head long at it. The riskier the better. Because they want to live, sure, (most do anyway) but if they die in any way BUT destroying evil, they're up shit's creek and full of pitchforks.
The longer they live, the stronger they get, and the more evil notices them. Comes looking for them. Strong enough, and the demon hirself that made the deal seeks them out before they become a threat directly to hir.
All the rules focus on the hunt, and a subsystem for escalating power, time, and demonic attraction. The GM's job: Get the characters killed while fighting evil. That's the goal. And it should be fucking tragic every time in the sweetest bitterest way possible.
MYSTERY GAME
This game is such a mystery, we don't even know what it is! But we're going to make it, and it's going to rock.
Titan Academy
A LARP about high school monsters just starting college. This comes with a sample scenario, and three character types: the Mummy, the Vampire, and the Werewolf. It's about petty one-upmanship, a little camp, a lot of fun. While we'll provide you with the characters, you'll probably want to print more (one for each player).
The Gentle Ladies Tea and Monstrosity Destroying and Quilting Circle Auxiliary
Is Fuck Armageddon maybe a bit too vulgar for your tastes? Would you prefer to see a quilting circle take down the forces of the apocalypse? Then we've got you covered! This is a fully clothed reskinning of Fuck Armageddon, with some rules modifications to fit the style of game.
Stretch Goal Games
This is a RAPID FIRE Kickstarter. It's taking place over two weeks. But, if we do phenomenally well, I want to add other games to the roster. I'll do rapid fire polls at $750, $1000, $1250, and $1500. We'll talk if it goes higher. Each poll will be to add another game to the list (and to all high-level backers). These are the ones I'm looking at so far:
All Tomorrow's Parties
A Sci-Fi LARP set in a post-scarcity society. It's a very structured, rules light LARP made to tell the story of the last day of existence, and a party on an extravagant space station. In All Tomorrow's Parties, you can have anything you want, unless what you want is tomorrow.
Year One Accord
A modern day almost-cyberpunk story about high tech in a very low-tech part of the world. Scientists developed true artificial intelligence, and for some reason, they chose to hide it in rural Ohio. A bounty hunter, a private investigator, a hacker, and a journalist search for this strange new technology when they can't even get a wi-fi signal.
Same Time, Same Channel
You're playing the actors in classic radio dramas, and their characters! Finagle real life drama, and on-air drama. Get points for using and challenging your actor archetype (comedian, leading lady, et cetera). Then use those points to take charge of the story when it comes time to record.
The 1980s Sucked
You're making a sitcom called The 1980s Sucked. You're casting all the roles, centered on a lead character. And you're exploring all the reasons this lead was miserable during their upbringing in the 1980s. It's a game about first world problems, a bit of humor, and a lot of montages. It's a game about taking the piss on nostalgia.
International Shipping
Add $3 for one product, $5 for two, $8 for any number bigger than 2. Sorry, it's not free. But customs forms are a pain for such tiny products.
Multiple Items
You can get multiple items. Just add $6 to a primary pledge level. I'll survey afterward and see what you're looking for.
Conventioning
If you're going to any of the conventions we're attending this year (Gen Con, PAX Prime, Rincon, SoCal Smackdown, Convolution, maybe Big Bad Con, lots of them,) we'd love to give you your books in person. So tell us in the backer survey! We'll personalize them. We'll chat. It'll be awesome.
