About this project

This summer, I will begin working on a new piece for unaccompanied alto saxophone. I have written several other pieces for saxophone in the past while working with some truly world-class players. For this project, I will be collaborating with saxophonist Timothy Rosenberg. The work will be approximately 8 minutes long. It will be appropriate for advanced (collegiate) saxophonists, but it won't be prohibitively virtuosic. I will finish the work in October of this year. The score and recording will be available some time in November. Tim and I hope to present the work at the College Music Society's National Conference in San Diego in November 2012.

Be a part of commissioning a new work for saxophone. Joining a commissioning consortium allows you to support the creation of new works without having to spend thousands of dollars. Thanks to the web and services like Kickstarter, forming a consortium is easier (and cheaper) than ever. About as much as it would cost to buy a score of an older work, you can get one of a brand new piece while directly supporting the composer. (That's me!) You'll also be part of a group that has performance exclusivity until the end of 2012.
