About this project
Hi. We are Christopher Wiezorek and Maboud Ebrahimzadeh. We are the director and producer (respectively) of Lapse.
Lapse is a short film that examines how a young woman, Lily, deals with guilt and love in a world where hope is hard to come by. Lapse explores what happens to Lily when her armor of apathy begins to crack. Lily's world exists just outside of ours, most everything would be familiar to us, but the surreal is always one doorway away. Answers never come easy, and the truth can be something that is too hard to face.
The truth of the matter for us is this: we need your help.
Our local community of filmmakers is contributing to our project in amazing ways. We have the privilege of getting to work with one of the highest end camera packages, the RED One, with vintage lenses. We have the support of local film crews in our area who are giving us their time and skilled labor, including Director of Photography Daryl Pittman, Art Director Michelle Lawless, and Post Production services provided by Digital Cave Media. We have an exceptionally talented and acclaimed cast of actors from the MD/DC/VA areas.
Lapse is being produced by Dream Live Studios in association with wePictures, the collaborative brainchild of Maboud Ebrahimzadeh and Christopher Wiezorek. While the two have pursued and done extensive work in the industry, they have come together many times on various collaborative efforts over the last 5 years (As Safe as the Bank, Day of Giving, etc.) and Lapse marks the inaugural film in their wePictures venture.
Our intent is to film Lapse over the course of five days in mid-June, enter the film into festivals, and ultimately to present it to as wide an audience as possible. We believe that Lapse is a challenging story with a very unique perspective and style.
We know that the Kickstarter community as a whole can provide us the chance to raise the necessary funds to reach our goals. This film cannot be made without the support of the community that embraces smart and new ideas. We need your help to make this film; our gratitude will be unending and you will receive awesome rewards too!
Times are tough, we understand that. If you can only help us spread the word, perhaps you can help us reach someone who can make a monetary contribution. So please, pass around our information, forward the page to your friends, post it on your facebook, tweet it, tell your friends to re-tweet it, etc. Every hit on our page is a chance for you to help us make our film.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Keep checking up on us for updates!

:: The following is a transcript from conversation I had ::
I was born in Iran. When I came to the US, I didn't speak a word of English. Well, that's a lie, I did know a few words: Coke, McDonald's, and 'What's up'. Even still, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that would call that a firm grip on the English language....
Well, I got laughed at a bunch in school when I was a kid because I didn't speak English well enough. So I did what I thought would help the most, I watched films. To put it more succinctly, I studied language in film. I remember once being asked 'What's your name?' and I said, 'Ebrahimzadeh. Maboud Ebrahimzadeh.' It didn't take much more than a split-second to realize that it works much better if you're an international super-spy in a tux... and having a name that's easy to pronounce doesn't hurt either.
So yes, I sat in front of a TV for hours on end and from what I can tell, it didn't rot my brain... yet. No it really was all about repetition.
Dr. Jones would say something, and I'd say it right back to a screen that never seemed to be listening to what I had to say. Raphael taught me sarcasm, Donatello taught me that smart humor almost never works for the average crowd (which is why every kid, including myself, loved Michelangelo) and Leonardo taught me that taking responsibility was over-rated. I didn't learn much from Splinter, I couldn't really ever stop laughing at his voice. Wait let me think- Death comes for us all, but something much worse comes for you. When you die, it will be without honor... or something like that. That's what Splinter said to The Shredder before he drops him into the back of a garbage truck.
Basically, films, movies, books, comics... I learned from them... that's how- why I got into film... kind of. Because even though the value of their contributions to society were questionable, they offered a story and a chance for me to learn something from them. What I want to do is offer something to society from my constantly growing point of view. I want to be able to tell a story in ways that offers insight, humor, passion... It's not in my nature to be mysterious but the discovery of knowledge can be an exhilarating experience, even if that discovery is a minor one. Finding the humor in a tragic situation, finding the tragedy in a humorous one, the contradictions and paradoxes, the finality in the notion of a series of endless ideas... these things intrigue me and if I can share that with someone, then so-much-the-better. If I fail... There's always politics.
