About this project
At LSB, we're serious about our beers. We started our brewery to take our unique homebrews and put them into full production. In order to do that, though, we need some help getting started. The funding from this Kickstarter project will go towards paying for the state and federal licensing, purchasing fermenters, kettles, and other brewing equipment, and raw materials to get started. To start, we'll be brewing on a 50 gallon base, big enough to be worthwhile, but small enough to allow us a pretty rapid turn-over. Some of our house favorites include:
Clutch - a BelgAmerican fusion, light bodied, but spicy and estery;
Challenge Accepted - A black IPA, dark, hoppy, but without the heavy coffee influence found in stouts and porters;
Hopricot - summer in a glass, hoppy, but full of apricot sweetness.
We also have some beers designed to push the limits, such as: Demigod - rich, malty, and powerful, 16% ABV; Big St00pid - a quad IPA with a balance between malt, hops, and alcohol, 18% ABV; Broken Legs - an imperial stout with 3 big hops (a tribute to our pretty disastrous biking season), 16 - 18% ABV.
As you can see, we're not putting out run of the mill beers, and we're always looking for new tweaks, or crazy concepts. We want to be western PA's break-away nano-brewery, and we want you to be able to go to a bar, see our beer, and say "Hey, I helped get them started."

The Feds! Honestly, we can't produce any beer to sell until we receive both our federal and state licensing, which we're projecting to occur in late December / early January.

Yes and no. Yes, we can ship empty growlers, but what good is an empty growler? No, we can't ship full growlers, PA law says so. For now, anyway. Seems PA is slowly catching up to the cool states as far as alcohol sales are concerned.

We'll ask you! If we're successfully funded we'll send an email out to everyone that gets t-shirts requesting size, color preference, and mailing address. Right now we've got regular cut t-shirts, babydoll T's, and tank tops.

Well that's a lengthy answer, one that will have to be updated when ever we can get our brewer to sit still for 5 minutes. To add to the current list, we've got:
Double Drop: a crisp and forward double IPA - 9% ABV
Bill's Bitters: a super light British style bitters - 4% ABV
Creme Brul-Ale: dessert in a bottle, sweet with loads of caramel and vanilla - 8.5% ABV
Pittsburgh Tan: how do you get tan in Pittsburgh? You don't. That's why this is a pale ale. 6% ABVMore to follow

Yes! We're pouring at Millvale Brewfest, August 13th. We're also trying to line up a tasting event at Elwood's Pub in Rural Ridge.

Due to federal regulations, we have to serial number all our fermenters and various other pieces of equipment, so we might as well name them too. Okay, now we're getting serious. For this level of reward we'll help you design your own beer, brew it, and put it into limited production. We'll do some working design sessions, up to 3 scratch batches, and all the necessary paperwork to put your beer on the streets. How awesome is that? Once your beer is into production you get to take home a corny keg of it, and keep the keg to bring it back for refills any time.

Wanna see your name more than just a beer? How about a room, too? This reward includes designing a beer and everything that goes with it, and we'll name a room after you. Right now our brewery only has 3 rooms, but why not plan for the future? Any pledges of this level past the initial 3 will get first crack at naming rooms when we move to a bigger facility. Previously named rooms carry over to anywhere we expand to. We'll also send you home with an LSB kit, a corny keg of your beer, and a refill on the house.
