Market Correction is a darkly comedic crime thriller, to be shot in Toledo, Ohio by Low Fidelity Productions.
Market Correction is a labor of love. We are passionate about storytelling and filmmaking. And we're all set to tell the world a story that Hollywood won't tell... without kowtowing to the whims of studio executives. We have the creativity, technical skill and work ethic to create a marketable and truly independent film (with your help, of course).
We would much rather be beholden to you--fans of truly independent voices and visions--than to some system or establishment. Please pledge and join us in the creation of something new and unique.
We've come up with some fun and unique rewards to show our gratitude for your support. Pick the one (to the right-->) that you like most... or message us if there's something else you'd really like. We're flexible.
Kickstarter campaigns traditionally peak in the first and last days. But, if you like what you see, please don't wait until the last minute to pledge. Help us build some much-needed momentum and PLEDGE NOW!
Thank you for your support.
A new idea or invention that threatens to shift the paradigm of today.
In a nation where even a county Sheriff’s department can purchase mechanized drones to patrol the skies, what deadly tools might the truly powerful have at their disposal? And how far will they go to ensure that any and every threat to their dominance is eliminated?
Market Correction is the story of the anonymous foot soldiers who, in secret, do the bloody bidding of the One Percent. For decades, they have strangled innovation in its infancy. They have murdered inspiration before it can spread. They have eliminated new ideas by silencing the minds that created them.
Now, the killers have a new weapon.
Protecting the powerful and removing their enemies from the world has become as simple as a single push of a button.
LOW FIDELITY PRODUCTIONS: Our core team has accumulated decades of experience in filmmaking, writing, photography, broadcasting, theater and business. We've been television directors, producers, professional photographers, stage and film actors, radio deejays, designers, poets and talk show hosts. We've also been published internationally and have had film scripts optioned by Hollywood. With such a diverse yet focused team, there's little that we cannot accomplish.
Brady Kesling, director/producer: Brady formed Low Fidelity Productions in 2001, to produce his film Injustice. His previous screenplay was optioned by a Hollywood production company for production by Universal Studios. He worked on the film Crap Shoot: The Documentary, had produced numerous film shorts and television commercials, and is a professional photographer.
Jonathan Watkins, writer: Jon is the author of the Bright and Fletcher mystery series. His novels are currently being developed for television at CBS, by the creator of Moonlighting and Medium.
Thomas Hofbauer, assistant director: Tom is an award-winning independent filmmaker with several successful film projects under his belt. His dramatic film In the Company of Strangers won awards in the Trail Dance Film Festival, Telluride IndieFest, Park City Film Music Festival and New York International Independent Film & Video Festival. He worked on the Oscar-nominated film Twist of Faith. Tom is a writer, producer and director, who has also produced scores of commercials and industrial films.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
In the motion picture industry, the script is king. A good screenplay isn't enough; it needs to be great. We have an amazing script by author Jonathan Watkins, whose Bright and Fletcher series is currently in development to become a CBS Television series. The subject matter is timely and unique. And the characters are interesting and compelling.
Motion picture production always entails a high degree of risk, even when the picture is substantially packaged prior to financing. In Hollywood, productions routinely run behind schedule and go back to the studio for more money. This clearly isn't an option for us. So hiring professionals and keeping the film ahead of schedule and under budget is a huge priority.
We've limited the risk of falling behind schedule (resulting in budget overages) in the following ways:
(1) Market Correction, like Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs, is set largely in one single location, an abandoned warehouse. Staying in one shooting location is much less expensive than changing locations (tearing down equipment, moving it and setting back up) AND reduces the risk of cast or crew showing up at the wrong location, creating a delay.
(2) Our script is a darkly humorous police thriller, but does not involve expensive and time-consuming stunts or special effects.
(3) To further assure a smooth and efficient production, we've brought on Thomas Hofbauer as Assistant Director. The Assistant Director is generally the least-liked person on the set, always pushing to keep things on schedule and budget. Tom has lots of experience in this role and will keep things running smoothly... and on time.
Producing a Hollywood-quality feature film in Toledo, Ohio also presents unique challenges. Toledo does not have the filmmaking infrastructure of Los Angeles or New York. But we will use our independence from the studio system and the unique nature of our project to our advantage. People in Toledo are excited to hear that a film is being produced here in town, which opens doors and makes things more affordable. And producing a film here, independently, keeps our crew small and lean, making us more adaptable.
The positive side is that, using Kickstarter, there is no risk to investor capital, as there would be in a traditional venture capital investment. Unless the film is fully financed, your contribution will not be debited. And as long as the project reaches its funding goal, you will receive the incentives promised.
Sure, Kevin Smith made "Clerks" for $30K, but that was 20 years ago and (while we love us some Kevin Smith) it looks terrible. Our budget allows for us to hire an experienced director of photography (DP) and utilize the latest HD cinema technology to make this production look every bit as good as a Hollywood studio film. This is not one of those two-guys-with-a-camera-in-their-spare-time productions you hear about guys pulling off (and more power to em!), but a full legit film production. Simply paying a cast and crew to show up every day for a 3-week shoot is going to eat up roughly half of our budget. The rest goes to rent equipment, pay for locations and to less-than-glamorous things like insurance and craft services. Every penny will be accounted for and carefully spent to maximize production value and make the best quality movie as inexpensively as possible.
Absolutely! If you want to support Market Correction and know someone who would love a visit to a movie set or even a walk-on role, you may certainly send whomever you wish to partake in those experiences.
The first rule of "Market Correction" is that you do not talk about "Market Correction." Kidding, obviously. Much like Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction," you'll likely never find "Market Correction" in the comedy section of the video store... but "Pulp Fiction" was hilarious. There aren't any jokes in "Market Correction," but there are lots of funny situations.
