About this project

After forming almost by accident in the fall of 2008, Love/Hate Records has begun to establish itself in the independent music scene of New York City, New Jersey and beyond. With two initial records already under its belt, the In Ribbons 7" single and Rapid Cities’ debut full length, Machinery Saints, the label is seeking to continue to move forward by releasing a compilation to help spread its name throughout the region.

The compilation will mostly include a vast array of bands whose members have been playing in the tri-state area for the better half of the decade. Most of the musicians included on the compilation are either good friends, know one another fairly well, or support each others’ advancement together in the current music “scene”. In addition to these contributions, we will also be accepting submissions from whoever would like to be considered for the compilation. Although we may only be able to work with a small amount of submissions, anyone is free to submit their music via email or postal service.

The overall purpose and mission of this compilation is to formalize the bonds between a group of friends, peers, and talented musicians who can all come together and help one another release their music, with money not hindering us to do so, and by empowering each other with our collective efforts. We are not looking to make money off of this at all. It's just about time that we all throw down together and not let the present economic downturn prevent us from putting out the art we produce and love.
