About Lost In Concert
Music has been an integral part of each of our lives since long before we could differentiate between harmony and melody, put together a quality playlist or sneak into an all-ages show. Music makes a great day extraordinary and a bad day bearable. It turns moments into memories and gives large groups of people a reason to dance like no one’s watching. Music is a universal language that everyone is fluent in; concerts are the live manifestation of that music. When artists get on stage, the hours, days, weeks and even years of blood, sweat and tears put into their work gets to be experienced by the audience in its purest form without the benefit of a post-production safety net or a second take. It’s their chance to create a community and connect on a personal level that other mediums just don’t possess. It can be a great show or a poor performance, but it’s an experience you won’t soon forget. Eventually, though, like everything else in life, the memories will fade and the details will get fuzzy. Musicians use music as a vehicle for expression to paint their picture; we use music as the canvas by layering and combining pictures and words to create our own visceral experience. Rather than just seeing it and reading about it, you get ripped out of your seat and you get to feel it.
Lost In Concert is about stepping outside of your comfort zone and allowing for the possibility to be impressed, or dejected, by a live music performance. Nothing will ever be exactly the same as seeing as a concert live — and that’s something we encourage you to do — but we document the experience from a perspective that puts you at the show instead of just showing it to you and telling you about it. We like to say it’s “live music from people who live music,” and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The Creation of The Book
Once our online library of show coverage had grown into the hundreds it was clear that we had to create something more permanent and tactile to commemorate the project and the music scene at large. This book was the obvious choice. We wanted to make something that fans of music everywhere could leave on their coffee tables to show off their love of live music. A book that they or their friends could flip through for minutes or even hours. A piece of art that really represents how we feel when we experience live music and gets people excited. A collection of memories and moments that help us remember some of the best times of our lives.
We began by looking back through all of our formative coverage and selecting our favorites. With an idea of how many shows we wanted to include we were able to better gauge the size the book would need to be and began to contact designers. Jen Soik ( www.jensoik.com ), a close friend and fellow music lover had the excitement, talent and most importantly the follow through needed for a project of this scale.
For the better part of a year we shared images and text files and marked up PDFs on our mission to create this book. Thousands of hours were spent cropping the images and arranging the pages to create the perfect experience. We looked into the best printing methods available and evaluated paper stocks to ensure the best reproduction for this book. We didn’t set out to just make another book—we wanted to make the best book possible and offer it at the best price possible.
The final product is Lost In Concert: Volume One — a 154-page, 10-inch by 8-inch, perfect bound, softcover book. The cover printed matte black and overlayed with a spot UV varnish texture and hand-applied custom satin fabric tour pass sticker on the front. Through testing we’ve selected what we believe is the best book mailing box on the market to ensure your reward arrives unharmed. Supporters should receive their rewards 12 to 14 weeks after the project is funded.

Once our project is funded we will be delivering the already designed files and assets to our printer who is eagerly awaiting them. As the files pass through their systems we'll be keeping as close an eye as possible on the progress and process to ensure the quality we set out to achieve.
Once we have received the books from the printer we will be organizing teams to package, seal and ship them to your home. We've experimented with the shipping and selected a box we believe will hold up through the postal process. We will be printing extras in case there is any damage due to shipping.
No. But they will be favorites of the photographer’s so rest assured they will rock.
