About the Series
Locally Grown (www.locallygrowntv.com) is a comedy web series that celebrates quirky characters and their entertaining situations at a local farmers market. Think a mix between Portlandia, Modern Family and Arrested Development set in a fictional northwest market.
The series follows the Granger Family and their connection to the community, the market and each other.
- Grandpa Edmund can’t seem to give up his “rein” on the farm. He knows there’s only one right way to get something done…his way.
- His absent-minded wife, Gigi, agrees with everybody all the time.
- Their daughter, Liza, is the ‘whoops' daughter – a country girl turned yuppy conservative with a misguided passion to find her passion.
- Their other daughter, Sam, is successor to the farm. Between that, her dad, her husband and the kids, she’s just trying to keep it all together.
- Hubby Jim is an honest, spiritual man who dreams of utopian society.
- Their daughter, Courtney, is a staunch vegan with wanderlust.
- Son Eddie Jr.’s business smarts put Donald Trump to shame.
- The thing is… the Grangers are the most normal people at the market.
- There's a hoard of zany characters like…
- Wayne, the wheelchair bound hippy with political aspirations.
- Burke, the young, germaphobe busker, and
- Ruth, the Market Master a.k.a. ‘Godfather’ of the market.
…just to name a few.
We will also be featuring actors, musicians and other entertainers that live in and around the Pacific Northwest in guest-starring roles, as well as surprise cameo appearances by characters from other local web series and films.
How We'll Use Your Contribution
We are not going lie to you. Filmmaking involves a lot of long, hard hours put in by cast and crew. Your generous donations will be used for Locally Grown’s production, post-production and marketing costs for the pilot episode. That means everything you see on screen from props to sets to costumes to make up to special effects to actors. Plus our website, t-shirts, tote bags…you get the picture.
We have an abundance of talented professionals 'locally grown' in Seattle who have worked on major motion pictures and television shows. And we want these hometown folks to work with us. But they cost money. So your donation also goes toward attracting these talented individuals.
It also helps pay for everything behind the camera -- including the camera itself, production, design and art departments, plus feeding the crew and actors. They get really cranky if you don’t feed them. It gets ugly. And since we are not making a zombie movie, cannibalism would be totally out of line.
When you think about it, you’re not giving the money to us, you’re giving it to the vision you are creating on the screen. That means when you share Locally Grown with your peeps, you are going to be able to say, “Yep, I made this entire community happen.” In fact, you will have become a vital part of the community.
Our sincerest gratitude for visiting and helping us bring this funny, quirky series to life.

Why You Should Back this Series
Because when we say ‘locally grown,’ we are not just talking about creating a hit comedy series, we are also talking about growing and integrating an entire community of entertainers, artists, actors, musicians, and filmmakers that we’ll spotlight throughout the series and on our website. We will also spotlight local vendors so they can offer their wares to a larger audience.
We aim to entertain you with a comedic look at the market community. Beyond that, though, we want to help promote and educate people on actual markets and all they stand for: Local vendors, sustainability, health, wellness, connection to your community.
We have successfully produced many compelling shorts and TV shows, including The Divine Marigolds, Stop Requested, and Star Trek: Phoenix. We’ve also co-produced on several shorts, including Bobbie Ellis is Gonna Kick Your Ass (Winner Best Comedy Short Breckenridge Festival of Film 2012); Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) Official Selection 2012), All My Presidents and Bunker (both also Official 2012 SIFF Selections).
Plus we’ve produced industrials such as SHINE and United Way’s Spirit of Caring Awards video.
