Austin, TX based improv troupe Local Genius Society brings their Baywatch inspired show "Beach Cops" to Hawaii's Improvaganza festival!
Local Genius Society is a group of improvisers and storytellers who have been performing in Austin, Texas since December 2010. We perform completely improvised character-driven one-act plays.
In 2012, at Austin’s Improvised Play Festival, we debuted a show called “Beach Cops” – our improvised version of “Baywatch” and “Pacific Blue.” Because we’re improvisers who love to be playful with each other, the idea for the show style grew out of a spontaneous moment in a rehearsal that continued to delight us long after the moment had passed.
We’ve been invited to perform our “Beach Cops” format in Honolulu’s prestigious Improvaganza Festival in September! It’s a great honor to be selected to participate in the Improvaganza Festival, and a terrific opportunity to share our storytelling with a wider audience.
We’ve pooled our financial resources, but we could use some extra help to get there (and back!).
We would love to have your support, so we’ve come up with a bunch of fun, useful, and delicious incentives. We love improv and we love getting to perform any place where there’s an audience we can share our stories with. We’ve previously performed in Austin’s Wafflefest and Improvised Play Festivals, and hosted a weekly improv show at Dive Bar. In August, catch Local Genius Society in Austin, TX at the Hideout Theatre and at the Out Of Bounds Comedy Festival.
