Nowadays you can get good beer just about anywhere, from just about any brewery. But what about a beer crafted in your town, refined with your feedback, from a brewery you helped build?

Hi there, Sarah + Regan here...founders of Local Brewing Co., a brewery in development in San Francisco, CA. We’ve been brewing beer for more than seven years. A year ago, we took our beer-making hobby out of the garage and into the hands of local San Franciscans. The premise behind Local Brewing Co. is to encourage local involvement and feedback to create approachable, sessionable beer. A true brewery + tap room built by locals, for locals. 

This is your chance to join the Local Coalition. Local Brewing Co. beers have been tested and refined by local San Franciscans, and now our brewery will have the same input from supporters. Our goal is to open a brewery + tap room in San Francisco that supports the local community. With your support, we will.

Interested in trying our beer before you pledge? You’re in luck. We partnered with a SF brewery to brew ~500 gallons of Glen Park Pale Ale to coincide with this one-time Kickstarter fund-raising effort (we don't get proceeds from beer sales, only from Kickstarter). Our beer will be on tap  throughout SF at 12+ bars and restaurants during our Kickstarter pledge drive. Goal

Your support will determine the size of Local Brewing Co.’s initial brewhouse. A brewhouse -- the actual equipment used to brew beer -- is the most critical part of a brewery; it’s also one of the most expensive purchases, and it dictates the volume of production for a brewery. 

The minimum we need to raise to open our brewery is $69,000 to purchase a nano-brewhouse (3.5-barrels = 112 gallons), which would enable us to serve brews out of a small tap room during limited hours. If we raise double of the minimum amount, we’ll be able to purchase a 7-barrel brewhouse (similar to Magnolia brewery), which means we would serve our beers at our tap room during regular hours and distribute to a select few SF bars and restaurants. If we raise triple the minimum, we could purchase a 10-barrel (320 gallons) brewhouse to expand our distribution to more SF locations, and enable Local Brewing Co. to grow with local demand.

Local Feedback

We've received a ton of support via our free beer tastings in Dolores Park and SF Underground Market, and used feedback gleaned from these events to refine our recipes. (More local involvement!) Our broad-scale debut was our 1776 IBA (brewed at Thirsty Bear Brewing Co.), which was on tap at several bars and restaurants around San Francisco for SF Beer Week 2011. With local feedback from -- and involvement in -- these grassroots efforts, we've built demand for a full-size, 7-barrel brewery + tap room.
