Update #6: On Its Way!
So, what's next for 'A Lovely Tale'? I wanted you guys to see the final product first, so the next step, when I return, is sending copies to industry professionals, blogs, and creative folk I admire. I'll check back in, in a few weeks and let you know how that goes, as the sharing continues! Until then, I'll be out taking photos and telling photographic tales of the lovely Alaska!
I hope you enjoy 'A Lovely Tale'!
** All rewards have been shipped, unless you've yet to fill out the response form with your address; in which case you should get on that! ;)
Update #5: 'A Lovely Tale' Exists!
Guys! I’ve just got the printed, bound, proof of ‘A Lovely Tale’, hot off the press!

To borrow the wonderfully phrased words of John Green, it is “officially a thing that exists in the world.” Woop! It’s pretty exciting to see it in its final printed form after developing it as pixels on a screen for the past few months!

While it was off to print, I've spent the last week finalizing the poster designs, and experimenting with various printing techniques for the prints I'll be sending along with the book! A glimpse at what the poster design will look like:

As many of you know, this is also the final and major project as part of my Masters degree here in Belfast. Our final hand-in date is Monday (!), and I'm super excited to be able to hand-in something I'm really proud of, so thanks again for being a part of that!
Next up: printing the final copies and sharing it with ya'll!

Update #4: Mocking It Up
Welcome to 2012!
Things are moving along quite swiftly with the production of A Lovely Tale! I’m here to send some New Year’s love in the form of an update, with a glimpse at how the mockup is looking, along with a couple photos!
I’m on the final round of image edits and colour proofing, the written portions are complete and edited, and the proof is going through it’s final round of edits! First, a look at one of my 'high-tech' means for deciding/visualizing on image and content order:

And after editing, printing, cropping, and craftily sticking pages together, here’s a glimpse at what the mock-up looks like!

The end of this week looks to hold the submission for printed proof, which is pretty exciting and I look forward to continuing to share the process with you!
Hope you had a splendid New Year - until next week!

Update #3: Ariel Here, With An Update!
Hello again!
It’s been a couple of week since the project was successfully funded, so I thought I would send along a friendly update to keep you fine folks informed on the process and what’s going on! Also, to once again pass along the sincerest of THANK YOU’s!
I’ve been working hard on compiling and perfecting the images and written pieces for the book. I want you guys to love it as much as I do, so thanks for your patience in this revision process! I’ve shared a few of the images that will be included, so here’s a peek at what’s up with the three written pieces. There’s a short reflection about growing up called “Out of Avalon” by KT Stevenson, a conversation with Mario Minichiello entitled “Digital Memory”, and some words by yours truly entitled “Photography & Memory”. They all work together to tell the story of the project and how the images were created, and also talk bit about the link between photography, memory, culture, and technology. Interesting stuff, if I may say so myself!
For those of you anxiously awaiting, the final book is scheduled to be printed in late January. As it gets closer, I’ll be requesting some details from you as to where I should ship your lovely printed goodies (still trying to figure out how to deliver those enthusiastic high-fives across the Atlantic…), so keep your eyes peeled for more details on that!
For now, I’ll be perfecting the layout, working with the printer to finalize proofs, and developing prints and will touch base again after the holidays!
Until then, stay warm, eat some delicious food, and have a lovely Christmas!
Update #2: Funding Goal: REACHED!
Thanks to you guys, A Lovely Tale has reached 100% of its funding goal!! WOO!

It's been really exciting to hear people's feedback and excitement about the concept, and I'm happy to say the project was also featured on The Donut Project, Flylyf, and the folks at SevenbyFive.net have just run my 'photo profile' - so be sure to check out those lovely sites who have been so kind as to help me spread the word!
I really appreciate all your support and feedback, many thanks for partnering with me to make this book a reality!
I’ll be finalizing layouts and printing mockups over the coming weeks, so stay tuned for updates on that!
Happy first of December!
