Update #3: Thank you for your Support!
Sending out a heartfelt thanks to our backers, we can't tell you how much your support has meant to us!
It has helped fuel us along in the planning cycle for the past few months. In that time, the project has morphed and continues to grow! It now has a name: 'FAIR GROUNDS PROJECT' and an evergrowing number of local collaborators are jumping on board.
Unfortunately, our funding goal was bit premature for our vision. We are planning to re-open funding in a few months, after we have laid the groundwork for our project using our sweat equity, found materials, and the support of our amazing local community.
Our berry patch ambition has grown from JUST blueberries to include strawberries and raspberries as well, something we hope to achieve with support of the Philadelphia Orchard Project.
In addition, we have our first installation planned for this spring in conjunction with local artist Scott Bickmore and Kensington Creative & Performing Arts High School.
ALSO, we're excited that the FAIR GROUNDS will inherit the impressive handmade windmill from the Soil Kitchen Project once the project is over in mid-April.
These great developments speak to the strength of our project, and we're confident that we'll hit our goal when we re-opening funding in a few short months.
Thanks once again for your support, and we'll be sure to keep you updated on all the exciting developments this Spring!

Update #1: Project Launch at IgnitePhilly
Kristen Taylor of little berlin and Farmer Patrick from Emerald St Urban Farm presented at Ignite Philly lastnight. In a rapid-fire 5 minute talk they shared the background of each of the groups, and presented our new project idea to the Ignite community.
There were a number of other speakers at lastnight's event who talked about urban greening, local fresh food, and sustainability in Philadelphia. The Delaware River Waterfront Corp presented their plan to transform the waterfront into a public park, and the Urban Nutrition Initiative shared their mission of education about healthy eating and the wonders of bicycle-powered blenders. Check out Technically Philly's Ignite Re-cap to learn more.
The number of meaningful projects happening in Philly that were shared at last night's event is overwhelming, it was great company to launch our new collaboration and we're STOKED about all the new connections this event made possible. Thanks Ignite Philly!
