About this project
Our upcoming feature documentary, Lines Across the Sand, champions the real people that inspired Edward Abbey's infamous characters in The Monkey Wrench Gang. Their humorous antics and fearless commitment to protecting wilderness come to life, as they reveal their inside stories and the colorful details that went into the making of Abbey's Doc Sarvis, Seldom Seen Smith, Bonnie Abzug and George Hayduke.
The film gives a voice to those, both young and old, who participate inside the activist community. In a time where fear has all but completely destroyed Thoreau's great tradition of civil disobedience, this will be a timely and entertaining reminder that there are still heroes with the courage to take a stand and say, "this far, and no further."
The project has been a labor of love and has been entirely self-funded. Now in post-production, it is imperative that we find finishing funds. All donations will go towards the completion of this film to include sound sweetening, color correction, editorial and graphics. Even a $10 dollar donation will help toward completing the film.
If you are interested in making a tax-exempt donation, please do so through our fiscal sponsor, the International Documentary Association. Here is a link to their site, www.documentary.org. Donations through them will not count towards this Kickstarter campaign, but will be very much appreciated and helpful in the months to come. Checks can be made payable to I.D.A. (International Documentary Association). Please write "Lines Across the Sand" on the memo section of the check.
If you would like to contribute to the film in other ways, please spread the word about the film to others. Post notices about the film on your blog, or tell people on your mailing list about our project.
Thanks for helping to keep Abbey's message alive!
“Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit," Edward Abbey.
