Congratulations guys the game looks great.
Awesome to hear you liked it!
"God artitsts"? Whoops, typo.
Recieved my copy yesterday (I live in Italy), wow I am amazed at the components and especially the artwork, you chose really god artists. Can't wait to play it, very glad that I kickstarted this so I got the bonus characters, Danny the Sinner looks badass!
Cherri is definitely a griefer, so I can understand why the kids might not like her as much XD Glad to hear the chibis have caught on, and I'll look forward to whatever video you post up :)
The battlebox has been a MASSIVE success with kids! Cadenza is still a favorite, but a lot of my players like Luc as well. The least favorite one is the blind prophet. I think I may do a video review of this sometime, Though I confess I only have my phone for a video camera. Still, I can give it a shot.
Incidently, the printed chino standups have been a hit for the kids, even with having to print in black and white.
Got my box today! Very impressed by the look and feel of the box! Can't wait to play! It's like it was meant to be since tonight is my game night!!!
A new little add on for you print and play types: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/755721/16-bit-standups-are-downloadable-now BattleCON goes retro!
Also, domestic pre-orders shipped yesterday, so you should be getting them late this week or early next within the US!
I'm listening to it now... :D
The Dice Tower has now rated BattleCON the 4th best game of the year!
Preview boxes are here via airmail from the printer. Pics to come later today :D
Hard to believe the release is not too far away. I have tested the print and play version with EVERY grade from first through eighth, and have had a lot of positive feedback! I cannot wait to put this into the club!
By the way, I have a smartphone now and really want to do a video review, but the files I make are just too big to post. If anyone can give some advice please do, I sure could use it.
Yes, that's still the plan :D
The printer tells me we're on track for November. It should be shipping about the same time as APE Games' Rolling Freight, for those who've purchased that as well.
So is the release still targeted for November?
oh I am so eager to see thing game ready to go!
For those curious about the world of Indines, the Battle Connection website (http://www.battleconnection.com) now shows random tidbits of lore at the bottom of each page.
Awesome! I am really looking forward to this.
The final is coming from a professional print house, so you can expect professional print quality on the full version.
The GC prototypes are just what I use to run demos and show the game off to interested parties, they're not the final product.
I saw that the prototype was printed by Game Crafters...is that who is printing the final version?
Phew, that's a relief! :)
Good luck with promotions and keep us updated on the progress of Battlecon ;)

We'll be releasing them online, much like Takeshi, so you should have no problem getting a hold of them :D
Pre-release chars? Would there be any way for backers to get them? I dont think I can afford myself a visit to the US - it is half a world away from me (but hell I DO want to!).
I appreciate the spirit of the offer, but please don't worry about creating a commercial. I'll be doing some additional promotional work once the game gets closer to coming out, but I'd prefer to keep advertising and such in-house.
If you'd like to write a review or do a video review of the print and play game, that would be a great way to spread the word. We'll be having a few other events, pre-release characters, and other ways to get involved and contribute in the weeks coming up, so please keep an eye out for those too :D
I don't know if this will help, but do you think I should do an audio for a possible web commercial? I could record my voice as a file, highlighting the storyline and modes of play. (I did this before in a college class). if you think I should, let me know. I would be honored to contribute SOMETHING to the project, especially since I cannot draw.
The Noble Gamer has posted a breakdown of the characters in BattleCON: http://thenoblegamer.com/2011/05/16/update-battlecon-fighter-roster/ check it out!
thanks for clearing that up.
If you can receive packages there, then it should be fine. I imagine a post office will be as good as anyplace else for that :D
I just thought of something. for some of us myself included, there is a PO box for our mailing address. will that be a problem?
About 8 hours after I post this, my day off begins. I'll be keeping an eye on here most of the day, so if anyone wants to chat or play over Vassal just send me a message.
@teachermook: You are welcome. I'm pleased to be of assistance. 8)
@steven Christopherson: Thanks again btw. I did not get to tell you sooner.
@David B. Talton Jr: Well if you are an evil lord, this is one minion who is glad to help out :-)
I'll be hanging out on Vassal for most of today if anyone wants to play me. :)
The waiting is the hardest part. Gotta be patient!
a.k.a. printing the darn thing! XD
TIme for Stage 2 of Operation Battle Connection!
What do you mean "now"? Mwahahahahaha
@Steven: helpful minions, wtf?! Is he some sort of evil lord, or something, now? XD
It's not goal x3, but 200 backers strikes me as an impressive number. Even more so since nearly a third bought more than one box. Thank you all for your faith in Brad and his helpful minions, the assistant designers (like myself). For an indie board game, this is really amazing. I wonder how high we would have gotten if the offer period had been longer? ;)
4 hours left for Takeshi!!! No one wants a private tournament and 24 copies of the game? Come on, it's not too late!!
Maybe this is being a little preemptive, because it does appear fact, Chuck Norris' armpits do possess magical properties, foretold by the one and only Fábio!
I'll be on Vassal for some percentage of today, unfortunately I have commitments on Saturday. Still, some kind of celebration is in order...
@Threevenge: I am sorry to report that a schedule change at work has trapped me in quarterly training after work tomorrow. I'm probably going to miss the Vassal event unless you guys get totally addicted and lose track of time. :(
Just want to say, great work on everything, Fabio. I started reading your comic/rants because of Takeshi and I really like your art style. Keep up the good work!
@Steven: well we can hopefully attempt to make it work. I think it'd be pretty cool to see a few people on the Vassal client on Saturday as sort of a celebration for the end of the funding.
Well, this is a nice surprise. To be honest, I wasn't expecting such a nice reception.
That got me thinking that should the expantion be released, Takeshi might get a better artwork. That's something that's still on my mind, and haven't even talked with Brad about it. Then again, the base game is still to be released, so there's PLENTY of time for that.
Also, anyone that might be interested, you can see the full artwork in here: http://fontes-makua.deviantart.com/art/Post-Apocalyptic-Popcorn-203999767
Again, thanks for wanting Takeshi so much. ^^
Nobody wants me to come run a tournament for them? You have 24 hours to make it happen!
If Takeshi is going to be included in a future expansion, I will retract my intense desire to get him printed at $15k then. As long as we get him eventually, I'm fine with it.
I still love the game either way. Just having gotten a taste, I hunger for more, but don't want to be too greedy, because you are right, having more later is better.
Fabio will be thrilled that he has so many fans XD
Takeshi is planned for inclusion in a future game though, so I feel like we should wait until then to go to production with him. You have to have something to look forward to, right? I fear that I would have to create him with a Print on Demand service based on the number ordered, so he would still not be a perfect quality match to the other characters. If this isn't a big issue, and Fabio doesn't mind, then I suppose I don't mind either.
I saw earlier that you would be open to more reward levels. I also want a production Takeshi and would be willing to up my pledge to guarantee having one in the box. Currently I'm pledged at $75. Maybe create a slot at $50 and $85 where you are guaranteed a production Takeshi even if the $18k mark isn't reached and toss in an art of him to keep it sweet in the event that the $18k mark is reached? Helps those who want him and helps get him for everyone else, too.
