Just arrived! Looks good! On my way out to run errands but, I have to ask, what's a Ceres Club membership card and should I have one?
Creator Lester Smith on March 19
Just in case you haven't seen the recent updates, Invasion is finished printing and is on its way to us via UPS, apparently to arrive on our doorstep March 20. Time to get backer surveys sent!

Any news from the printer?
Creator Duncan McEwen on September 26, 2012
I stand corrected. I see that Dark Conspiracy is back in print (sort of). I wonder how they got that worked out. All the other DC revivals have failed mainly in the licensing department. Cool.
Glad I saw the earlier comments.
Creator Duncan McEwen on September 26, 2012
Hi Lester,
I am a long time fan of Dark Conspiracy, and while this game does not seem quite to my tastes, I decided to back it a little just to say thank you for all the wonderful time I have had with Dark Conspiracy.
Now if we could just get the DC license from Mark Miller at reasonable terms, we could do a Dark Conspiracy Kickstarter. :)
Good luck!
Duncan

Hi, Keith. I located my old account at BGG (really need to update the bio!) , added Popcorn Press as a publisher, and submitted Invasion of the Saucer People as a game project. The process was pretty easy, and even included an option for linking to this Kickstarter project!
By way of thanks for your going truly "above and beyond" to land this extra exposure, I'd like to add a Ceres Club card to your package when it ships. Remind me when the time comes to gather mailing addresses, okay?
Creator Lester Smith on September 9, 2012
Ah. Thanks, Keith. (Especially for the path and instructions.) I hadn't realized posts could be made about a game without the game actually being there. Looks like I have some more work cut out!
Indebtedly yours,
Les

BGG is THE database/forum/file sharing site all about board and card games. It has a LARGE audience and if you want to get word out about your game, it's the place to do it. Some game designers do upload print&play versions of their games there to get feedback, but this isn't required. If you want to get the word out about your game to the gaming community, then BGG is the place. I recommend that you register as a user, then add an entry for your game(MISC>CREATE>ADD BOARD GAME). You can then post news, pictures, videos, comments and answer questions about your game.

Hi, Keith. Thanks for the comment. I don't know the ins and outs of boardgamegeek.com, but I did visit yesterday and look around. From that exploration, I don't see a good way to use boardgamegeek.com for this project.
The thing is, backers here are purchasing a product, whether PDF, physical deck, or both. By backing this Kickstarter project, you're all also getting in early, becoming part of the game's history. It wouldn't be fair to you to post the same product at boardgamegeek.com, not even the clip-art version.
Think of it this way: I'm a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan. But I wasn't lucky enough to know them during their early years in Chicago, when they played at small venues to dedicated crowds. I envy those early fans their memories. It's an experience I can touch on only by playing Rock Band. (Check my FB page for an image of Skoro, leader of the Flush Towelettes.)
Some day, I hope you guys will look back on this Kickstarter project and say with nostalgia, "I remember Popcorn Press's very first game. And look at them now."
Affectionately yours,
~Les

You should post your game to www.boardgamegeek.com to get more people interested.
Creator Lester Smith on September 2, 2012
Thanks, Brad. Much appreciated! Please pass the word.
Creator Brad Kelley on September 2, 2012
Hey Les, I first thought this was just another project you were backing (got an email from Kickstarter I think). Bob explained that it actually is YOUR project, so I came and checked out the page. Outstanding! You have my money, again. =)

"When Shadows Rise"
Sounds like just what I am looking for ... just needs a "pledge here" button! ;)
Creator Lester Smith on August 28, 2012
Hi, Paris.
Thanks for the comments, questions, and suggestions.
1.a.) I'd be happy to donate your physical copy to a local children's hospital. That is very kind of you!
1.b) If we can hit a stretch goal where the printing cost per deck drops, we'll have some wiggle room to print extra decks for charity causes. It is a great idea, and I appreciate your suggesting it.
2.) I also appreciate the kind words about Dark Conspiracy. However, that game was written as "work for hire" and is owned by someone else. Currently, another group has licensed the option to release a new edition, and I wish them all the best. They're great guys.
Let me add, though, that I've been working on a new horror role-playing game for some time -- When Shadows Rise, a d13 system with a setting that I hope transcends even Dark Conspiracy. That's the goal, at least. If the Invasion of the Saucer People project succeeds well enough, I'll be able to bring When Shadows Rise to light more quickly.

G'day Lester,
I have to admit I am not a card game player, but when I saw that this game is being created by the designer of one of my all time favourite RPG's, I could not help but chip in. (Plus the happiness of your Grandson is very important - obviously ;)
I have two questions and a stretch goal suggestion;
Question 1: If I increase my pledge level to a physical copy of the game, could you donate it on my behalf to children's hospital local to yourself? While I am not a card game player, I want to see this project succeed and I would love to see my copy go somewhere that it will bring happiness. (I figure kids stuck in hospital can use every dose of happiness they can get!)
Stretch goal suggestion: Upon reaching "X" goal level, maybe you could donate "X" number of copies of your game to "X' number of Children's hospitals? I saw on Monte Cook's Kickstarter that he will donate a number of copies of his game to armed services personal ... which led me to this idea.
Question 2) What are the chances ... even remotely ... that another edition of Dark Conspiracy could see the light of day? If that was a Kickstarter, I (and many people I am assuming) would back that big time! :)
I look forward to your response and good luck with this project.
