About this project

Hey everyone, my name is Leticia Silva but everyone knows me by LELE! I am currently enrolled in a masters program at Texas A&M University. I decided to make my thesis project about the importance of camera language towards classical narrative filmmaking. To demonstrate this I storyboarded an entire short film. I am not sure if everybody knows, but storyboards are drawn panels that visually tells the story of an animation, kinda like a comic book.

I wanted my story to be very cinematic so I studied film language. I researched the best way I could to express the mood and flow of my story through cameras, compositions and editing.

My story INTO THE SHADOW is an adaptation of little red hiding Hood. I know everyone knows this fairy tale by heart. So, I thought it would be very challenging and interesting if I I could do something very different with a story that has been adapted several times in different medias. My adaptation is kinda dark and visually is very appealing. Imagine a young girl by herself in the library. She is reading a fairy tale book when suddenly the lights go out. The place is closing. Now she needs to rush her way home. All her surroundings are dark and scary. Being all by herself, her imaginative mind starts to play tricks on her. She has a hard time to distinguish what's reality and whats is not .

So, summarizing, I want to make get all my boards from my story and transform them into a mini graphic novel! My first graphic novel!

With your help, I can get $2,000 to print the graphic novel in a grayscale, high-quality edition. With those copies I can start distributing INTO THE SHADOW in comic book shops and comic shows all over the country.

Connected

Once upon a time there was a girl who dreamt that she could work for great studios as an story artist one day. Although she was born in Brazil, a place very far away from her dream, she didn't give up. She has accomplished some of the tasks to get her to her dream, therefore her journey is still very far away to be true.
