Leannan Sidhe returns to make her second album, Mine to Love!

This album is a mix of dark fairy tales and passion, wrapped in a labyrinth, sprinkled with enchantment and served with a side of whimsy.

Featuring Leannan Sidhe on vocals, Alexander James Adams on vocals, fiddle, and other instruments yet to be decided upon, Betsy Tinney, cello goddess extraordinaire and album art by Rob Carlos. I'm also hoping to have a new (but familiar) face or two join me as the sound of my music takes on a slightly different flavor.  Those of you who loved Fragile Dreams may find yourselves enchanted with what's coming up next!  (Not familiar with these people and their work?  Read through the updates I've done on each of them!)

As an incredibly special treat, I've obtained permission to cover King of Elfland's Daughter!The song originally made it's appearance on the album Keepers of the Flame and was written by Mark Ungar.  This will be the first time the song has been recorded since the original album went out of print (to the best of my knowledge), and I hope that when I'm done it enchants you as much as it enchanted me!

I was hoping for a Christmas release, but as the fairy tale songs on the album get darker and creepier, I'm seriously considering trying to get it out by Samhain.  If the fates work in my favor, which is where you come in!  I'm getting a huge number of likes, but not as many actual backers as I had hoped. 

If 658 of you bought me a drink, or 220 of you took me out to lunch, or 132 of you took me to dinner, or 66 of you took me to dinner and a movie... only instead of doing those things you chose to back me for what you would have spent, I'll get there in no time!  I'm not asking for you to give something for nothing either, in addition to those shiny rewards on the sidebar, I'm offering a few bonus rewards for the people who get me to certain goals.  In addition, I'm going to be doing a backer's only concert (read more about that in the updates), and that applies to backers of any level. 

Okay, this just in!  See that fabulous aurora shot that is in the background of my kickstarter picture?  Anyone who donates at the $50 or above level will *also* get an 8X10 print of the full photo!  Or, if you'd rather you can choose a different photo from Starlisa Black Photography.  This is a great deal! (And yes, it is retroactive to those who have already donated).

The backer who gets me to 50% will get an automatic reward tier bump (up to a maximum of the $500 level)

On a more serious note, making this album means everything to me. I’ve got some really shiny new songs that I very much want to share with you, and I think you’ll really enjoy. I miss being in the studio playing with Alec and Betsy, more than I can possibly begin to express. You, or at least some of you have been waiting eagerly for the next album to come out, and I want to oblige you!

Also, this is what I want to be doing with my life. Making music, sharing it with the world… I’m willing to give up just about everything I have to make this dream come true. I’ve put in notice for my apartment, I’m selling off as much of my stuff as I can bear to part with, and sinking every cent I have into making this happen. Its not quite as crazy as it sounds…  I’ll spend a lot of the time that I’m not recording off camping and hiking with my mom, and performing everywhere I possibly can. Because if I’m going to do this, really make my way as a musician, I need to be out there doing it. Not all the gigs are going to pay, not all of them will have large audiences, but that’s okay. Those small personal ones are where I get to really connect with you, and that’s one of the things I love.

I can’t lie, I’d like to be able to at least make my money back from my albums, and make enough extra off them to at least feed myself (and maybe enough to record the next one so I don’t have to ask for help?) That’s my stomach talking. It's not why I do this.

I do it for love, for hope, for dreams, for the music, and for you. I do it because I can’t imagine not doing it. I do it because I was singing before I could talk and I’ve never stopped since.

I’m not asking you to do it all for me, believe me I’m putting everything I have into it and then some. I’m jut asking you to help get me the rest of the way.

The practical bits.  The money goes to pay studio costs, engineering costs, mastering, musician time, album art, CD replication, cases, inserts, shipping, etc.  In the cases of the concert rewards, a fair amount of that goes to pay the rest of the band.
