Mislead: America's Secret Epidemic. 1 in 3 American children has been poisoned. http://www.MisleadMovie.com
The clip up today is a snippet from my interview with Noam Chomsky in May. (It was for me truly one of the highlights of making this film – having the opportunity to spend some time discussing this issue with one of the great thinkers of our time.)

Dear Friends (old and new)...
It's an exciting time around here, as we see the film really starting to take shape! This Kickstarter project will help cover some of the substantial post-production costs over the next several months.
While we have set the goal at only $25,000, the more we raise the more we will be able to do - and money raised above and beyond the $25,000 goal will go towards high-impact elements that are vital to an engaging documentary, like quality animation and music. (Finished animation can typically cost tens of thousands of dollars—per minute! - but we are lucky enough to have very talented people offering us deep discounts on their time!)
I would love to see this Kickstarter project raise $50,000 or more so we could also do some additional/ final location filming - including a planned interview with Dr. Helen Caldicott in Australia! (Yes she already agreed to be part of this project - seeing its potential to spread awareness and protect children! If we make it to Australia we will also be filming at an active lead mine there, as well as interviewing internationally recognized lead-poisoning prevention advocate Elizabeth O'Brien and filming a visit to Esperance - an entire community that was poisoned from mining spills between 2005 and 2007 - projected costs for the Australia trip alone are about $15,000.)
I'm approaching this a little differently than our initial Kickstarter
project – instead of hitting up everyone I know to support the
film I'm going to leave it up to you to watch the sample footage "tastes" we will be sharing (and hope you will be moved to share some of these with your friends and loved ones.)
We will be rotating the videos for our project during its 30-day duration from a selection of short videos on our YouTube Channel and videos from our Simple Solutions series! If you want to see a longer piece (17 minutes) of rough cut footage from the project, please check out the home page of the film's website, www.MisleadMovie.com.
If you'd like daily updates on our progress and other developments related to the film, we encourage you to visit the film's Facebook page!
-Thank you for your support!

About the film:
MisLEAD: America’s Secret Epidemic is a feature-length documentary film for theatrical release about the hidden epidemic of childhood lead poisoning in America today.
The film explores the history and current state of lead hazards in our environment, dispels the myth that the problem of lead poisoning was “solved” with the 1978 ban on lead paint, and uncovers the truth about the fact that one in three American children today (22,000,000 children) have been poisoned by lead.
Our film is addressed to parents everywhere – who will be drawn in as they hear about (many for the first time) what has become common knowledge among those in the inner circle of scientific research , but not yet widely known outside that circle: indisputable correlations between lead exposure – even at very low levels – and the geometric rise in the incidence of learning disabilities and behavioral disorders that American families, teachers and pediatricians are now grappling with.
The "plot" unfolds as the audience follows the stories of several families who call Tamara Rubin at the Lead Safe America Foundation for help. The story of Tamara’s own journey as a parent of lead poisoned children is interwoven with dramatic stories of other families and children across the country that have been impacted and highly provocative interviews with experts in the industry (lead poisoning prevention advocates, research scientists, policy makers, construction industry representatives, EPA, CDC, HUD and others).
This is a solutions-oriented film — to give parents, health-care providers and educators the tools they need to protect children from this wholly preventable environmental illness.
Since MisLEAD is a project of a 501(c)3 nonprofit (the Lead Safe America Foundation) your contributions are tax-deductible!
