Update #20: The Ellen Show
Loyal and generous backers!
I'm sure you've heard by now, but I'm so excited to share my next step for Missed Connections Live.
I want to get Missed Connections Live on The Ellen Show!
For those of you who don't know, Ellen has a segment where she highlights the best of Craigslist. What a perfect fit!
I'm currently working on a pitch video to send to her people. In the meanwhile, here's how you can help...
You have 4 choices
1. Twitter
(http://twitter.com/theellenshow)
2. Facebook
(http://www.facebook.com/home.php...)
3. Ellen Show Website
(http://ellen.warnerbros.com/show/respond/...)
4. All of the above!
Take 2 minutes to share your favorite episode of Missed Connections Live and why she should have me on the show! Keep sending in your post, even if it is the same one, once a week. If it is one thing I've learned, it's persistence!
You guys rock :-)
In other news....for those of you who requested Missed Connections Live T-shirts, get psyched (and send your size request and address to monkey@lbmproductions.com).
Signing out...

Update #19: When Morty Met Esther is in NextTV's acting competition
During the call-for-entries period of the NexTv ACTING & DIRECTING TALENT SEARCH that I'm participating in, there is a monthly viewer's choice "Shortcut to the Finals". The top vote-getter each month gets a pass to the finals of the overall competition (still ongoing). The list of industry heavy-weights involved is long (ICM, ?The Office?, casting for Peter Jackson and many more) so getting to the finals is extremely significant.
Here is how to vote:
1. Go to www.nextventertainment.com/talent
2. Click on the big tab at the bottom left of the page that says, "Shortcut to the Finals"
3. Type in my name (first or last) in the search bar on the right just above the list of submissions
4. Click on WATCH.
5. Then click on VOTE.
Vote away!!
All best,
Melissa

All best,
Melissa
Update #17: Quick survey!
Update #16: Party update
Hi friends!
It has come to my attention that the initial date I set for my premiere party might be problematic with a lot of schedules. Given that this is a party celebrating you, I wanted to look into this asap! Initially, I chose the date since it worked out with Bridges and Powerlines. However, it's looking like they have another opening!
I have to check with the venue, and thank you for your flexibility, but keep Sunday August 29th open. Details to follow!
All my best,
Melissa
Update #15: Party! Save the date...

Further details coming soon!! Be there or be square.
Update #14: Update on Missed Connections Live
Update #13: Success!
Update #12: Meet Rachel & Zelmira
Rachel is the script supervisor on a little show you might have heard of called The Good Wife. She's a pretty stellar director and is in the process of transitioning into directing full time! We live on the same street and met at Barcibo Enoteca where she and her boyfriend Tony Phillippe (who works on Damages) are regulars. I could not have executed this shoot without her.
Zelmira is a fabulous director, d.p., and lovely friend. She just got back from Argentina where she was shooting her NYU Grad thesis project. She very generously hopped on board to shoot Hipster Chick on her 1 day off. I'm a big fan of Zel and was so excited to collaborate with her!
Update #11: Exciting news/development
Greetings backers!
Time is a ticking and I have a ways to go, but I have some positive news
An anonymous benefactor/fan of Missed Connections Live agreed to match remaining pledges to ensure that I reach my goal, which means that if I can raise $765 more by 9 am on Sunday, I'm good to go!
Just to really push my earnings over the edge, if each of you finds 1 person to pledge $20, I am golden!
Godspeed!!
M
Update #10: Meet Jared and Johanna
Jared and I met because we started studying with the amazing Wynn Handman around the same time. Jared is a fabulously talented actor and good friend. I was so excited to include him in Hipster Chick and look forward to collaborating with him again!
Johanna came all the way from Germany to make a cameo on my bike for Hipster Chick! Well actually, she's a good friend of my director Rachel Connors and was generous enough to donate a few hours to play. She is a singer and lives in Berlin.
Update #9: Meet Ari
Ari Rossen is one of the fab actors who I enlisted to join the Missed Connections Live family. We have been collaborating together on a few things and he will be co-starring with me in a Missed Connections Live Promo that we are planning to shoot this summer!
Ari and I met at Northwestern University. We shared a lot together under a particularly challenging professor's wrath.
Ari is developing his own series based on hipsters in NYC so I thought he could get his feet wet with this!
Update #8: Teamwork!
Yesterday, thanks to the generosity of Rachel Connors, Zelmira Gainza, Ari Rossen, Jared Smith, Johanna Blackstone, and Mud Coffee, I shot a 'pre-cursor' of sorts, to Missed Connections Live Episode 2 aka Hipster Chick. I'm so excited to edit this together and share it with you. I think it reflects the potential and possibilities of Missed Connections Live...
Update #7: Final stretch
