Hello INTERNET. My name is Mr. Christopher Hunt. I am a young comic book creator living in Boise, Idaho and I'd like to print some comics.
About Volume One
For the past four years, I've diligently been honing my skills as a cartoonist. Up until this year, I hadn't given much thought to printing any of my work, preferring to host it on my personal website and flickr in hopes of getting good honest critical feedback from people and not much else. I feel the time has come to actually get my work into print though. I've spent too much time dipping my toe in the pool and the time has come to jump in. Volume One will be the first self published book I've ever produced and the realization of a dream I've had since I was 9 years old.
Volume One is going to be the first book in what I plan to be an ongoing series of collected works. In this case, I'll be combining my two most recent stories, The Strongman and Death In The Afternoon. If you'd like to take a look at them, check out my website http://thechrishunt.com
What Will It Look Like
It'll be a simple black and white comic, with a color cover numbering around 40 pages. The print run is going to be small, running around 200 issues. Right now I'm working on getting the pages set up for a printer. Volume One isn't going to look like a typical mainstream or indie comic. I'm looking to produce something that is professional, but singularly unique for the medium.
What Will Be Done With It
I'm looking to use Volume One as a way to introduce myself to the world of indie comics. I plan on selling the books locally but my real goal is to get the book out across the country as best I can. This will involve a lot of cold calling and the sending of books to retailers at no cost to them, hence me using Kickstarter in the first place. Five hundred dollars might not sound like a lot of money, but it is when you're literally putting it all in an envelope and sending it to strangers. This is why I need your help.
To me, even if only a handful of people take the time to read my stories outside of the place that I live, that's exciting to me and I want to include as many people in this first step as possible.
UPDATE So I hit my goal of $500 but I'm still looking for your support. The more backers VOLUME ONE gets, the better the quality of the book, and the more we can produce. As it stands, if we can hit $1700 by the end of the Kickstarter project, I'll be able to double the print run while adding 8 pages to the book. Check the UPATES tab for more up to the minute details.
