Welcome! 

Thanks for checking out my project!  I'm Lauren, and I am writing and self-publishing my first recipe book!  This is no ordinary recipe book, it's a raw vegan superfood chocolate recipe book, titled, Homemade Chocolate in the RAW!  

My Story   

I learned how to cook and prepare food at a very young age and have always loved it.  It's a major creative outlet and I have made food for myself (and often others) everyday since I was in middle school.  I absolutely love raw vegan chocolate. When I turned 25 moved across the country, I transition to a raw vegan diet and started a youtube channel through which I have shared over 200 videos of recipes, techniques and experiences.  This continues to be such a rewarding experience and now it is time for a recipe book!  I am compelled and so excited to write this book to share my recipes!  

The Recipe Book                                                                                                        

The book will contain over 50 of my own recipes, featuring a variety of superfoods, herbs, spices, nutrient dense raw foods, and of course, raw chocolate(cacao).  Each recipe will be accompanied by a beautiful photo, clear instructions, and notes about variations, storing and serving suggestions.  I'm also including basic foundation recipes to serve as building blocks for creating your own unique chocolate recipes.  There will be a section devoted to fun and easy presentation ideas and technique tips to make working with raw chocolate easier and more fun!  In addition to all that, there will be a resource guide for related books, online inspiration, as well as recommendations for where and who to buy from.  Keep scrolling to see a rough draft of the table of contents.

There will be recipes for molded chocolates, tonic elixirs, dessert smoothies, ice creams, using cacao in savory recipes, chocolate bark, making colored chocolate, chocolate dipped fruit, fudge, granola cereal and bars, snacks, recipes for kids and other recipes that you can get their hands dirty with!  All raw and vegan, of course.

About the Author

The Publishing                                                                                                  

I will be publishing this as a printed soft cover book, ebooks, and for the iPad in iBooks.  To get the book out as soon as possible and to avoid major upfront costs, I have decided to self-publish.  

Getting Funded                                                                                          

To complete this project, I need to buy loads of ingredients to finish perfecting the recipes.  I need to pay a photographer and pay for professional design services.  There are other costs involved in self-publishing, like ISBN# and copyrighting, as well as ordering the first shipment of printed books! 

My Goal

My goal is to get funded $1,700.  If I get funded past my goal, I will use the extra money on additional professional services, like editing.  I plan to have the book published and shipped out to my backers by March 2013.  Getting fully funded allows me to work on the book full time and get it finished and out into the world as soon as possible.

With a Kick Starter campaign, I only get the funding if I reach or exceed my goal, so I need your help in making that happen, to spread the chocolate love in a big way! Pledging even a small amount helps and you get a cool reward!  If you don’t have the means to pledge money, you can share the project with others in your social circles and networks to help get the word out.
