About this project
I'm attempting to raise $5,000 by September 30, 2009, my birthday (CORRECTION: We only have until September 4th!), in order to transform the demos I've just finished recording at NYC’s Axis Sound into a collection of stellar songs. This is the amount required to continue the recording process, master the final product, and press the first 1,000 copies in eco-friendly albums.
To the right you'll see a list of rewards. For pledges of $1 or more you will receive access to exclusive updates as we go through this process. Those who pledge $5 or more will have her name listed under a special “thank you” section of my official website, with an optional link to website of her choice (this is for the self-employed entrepreneurs and whatnot - nothing freaky, please). Pledges of $10 or more will give you exclusive downloads, $20 will give you the digital album upon completion, and so on. Other rewards include autographed items, guest list spots at upcoming shows, and even a day in New York City with Laura - that’s me.
The reason I’m asking my fans for financial support is because I realize that there is no such thing as an “independent” artist. You guys make it possible for me to continue pursuing my dreams. And just because I don’t have a major label backing me doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to put out a mediocre piece of work. I believe these songs are my strongest creations to date and I want to give them - and you - the proper attention and production they deserve.

Laura Meyer began in New York City, where she regularly performed at clubs like Pianos, Joe's Pub, CBGB's, and The Bitter End while attending NYU's Gallatin School for Individualized Study. In the few years since graduating she's performed over 500 shows across the US and Europe. Her intelligent songwriting and road-honed performances have earned her bills with artists including David Byrne, Ryan Adams, Tift Merritt, Josh Ritter, Elvis Costello, and Ani DiFranco.
Having completed a whirlwind tour of nine countries in 2011, Laura settled in Los Angeles where she is working with a new band and editing a book inspired by life on the road. In October she returned to New York to record Golden Delicious, a new album inspired by the Wall Street protests and the state of the American Dream.
