Sandra Bernhard joins cast of DTLA.

Comedian, Actress, Author, Singer and Personality Sandra Bernhard joins the cast of DTLA in the role of Carla, the mother of one of the lead characters, Bryan, played by newcomer Matthew Stephen Herrick. Her character is a co-owner and General Manager of a boutique hotel in Los Angeles.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Sandra's caliber become part of the DTLA family," said Larry Kennar, Creator and Executive Producer of the series. "Sandra's character, Carla, is introduced at a pivotal moment in our series, when the character of Bryan must make a life altering choice." Kennar and Bernhard who have known each other for many years, conversed about the series on Twitter - and those conversations inspired Kennar and Bernhard to work together on the series.

By joining the cast, Bernhard also reteams with Helene Shaw, Executive Producer of the series, who was  her agent on  Martin Scorcese's "The King of Comedy," starring Robert DeNiro.  "Sandra was my only choice to play Carla. She has the emotional resonance which fit the character perfectly - a tough, no-nonsense, yet loving parent."

"DTLA" is a self-financed series, whose eight episodes will be distributed throughout the world via OutTV Canada. Domestic distribution plans will be announced shortly.
