Update #5: Television Broadcast

Posted on April 21

Hey everyone --

I know it's been a while since you've had any updates.

It's been almost two years since we embarked on making ICE HOCKEY and this film continues to breath life.

Last year, the film screened at the 2011 Independent Film Festival Boston. It was then chosen as a staff pick on the front page of Vimeo, garnering over 30 thousand views. It screened at a small festival in Canada earlier this year. And now, ICE HOCKEY has been nominated to screen on PBS WNET Thirteen next Saturday.

Reel 13 is a weekly curated program for features and short films. The short film winner is decided by the number of votes, so I'm reaching out to you to spread the word.

ICE HOCKEY will appear on the REEL 13 website on Saturday, 4/21, at midnight.  The films will be live on their website and available for voting until Wednesday, 4/25 at 5pm EST; the film with the most votes will be broadcast the following Saturday night, 4/28 on WNET/Thirteen.

Please continue to support the film that you made possible. It would not have been completed, nor reached such a large audience without your backing.

My next short film Brothers will be released publicly this summer and I just wrapped on a new short called The Worst, starring Dean Winters and Britt Lower. Currently, I'm a staff writer on the international television show BORGIA (Canal+/Netflix), which I highly recommend.

Thank you again. I hope this experience has been a rewarding one.

I remain eternally grateful.

Larry

Update #2: Post #2

Posted on October 6, 2010

Dear All --

Since wrapping in June, the film has gone through a very long and, at times difficult, editorial process. It went through several different iterations of varying lengths and focus. But after weeks of back and forth, we finally broke through, by boiling it down to key ingredients to tell the simplest story possible.

Last night, the film reached picture lock. It's now in the very capable hands of Gregg (Sound Designer/Mixer), Ryan (Composer), and Andrew (DP, Colorist) to finish the last layer of post-production.

This past Sunday, Gregg and I spent the day at South Mountain Arena to record foley sounds -- skating, stoping, snapshots, zambonis and more. We took Ryan's score and played it over the speakers to record the music with the rink's acoustics. This weekend, Andrew will be in town to get to work on the color and complete the look of the film.

A screening is being planned in both New Jersey and New York City in the coming weeks. We'll post more details soon and keep you up to date on the progress.

This Friday night, the hockey seasons begins at the Prudential Center. I'll be there, rooting for my team, the Devils.

Update #1: Post #1

Posted on July 16, 2010

Dear All --

I wanted to give everyone a quick update on ICE HOCKEY.

We're currently in post-production, editing the film, working on sound and score. Ryan Sciano will be composing the music - http://www.djghostdad.com. And Gregg Swiatlowski is sound mixing and editing - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2086470. The film should be completed by late August.

In just over a week, we've raised over $1,000 thanks to the generous backers who've contributed so far -- thank you. But there's 15 days remaining and we still need to reach our goal to be awarded the money everyone's pledged.

So today, we're launching a trailer on kickstarter, so please help spread the word and enjoy.

- Larry
