Across the US, you'll find Austin Psych Fest, Frisco Freakout, and Escalator Fest among the many celebrated annual music festivals devoted to the psych genre. We believe that it is high time LA got its own annual psych fest! The first ever annual LA PSYCH FEST will be held on March 25, 2012 at The Bootleg Theater. This revamped and delicately curated concert experience will feature 10+ hours of music on 3 stages, interactive art installations, food trucks, vendors, a tattoo booth, bar, DJs & much more!
The small group of friends behind LA PSYCH FEST are musicians, avid lovers of music and art, faithful to their city's incredible psych scene, and already the foundational members of reputed venues in LA including The Cozy Castle, The Sanctuary, and FMLY. We believe in stripping pretentiousness and exclusivity from the live music experience while exposing the explosive talent in LA. We are not affiliated with any production company, corporation or organization. Despite this, we have allocated a few thousand of our hard-earned dollars to put towards paying artists and advertising costs. We are simply a group of like-minded friends who feel that the typical music festival today lacks intimacy between the artist and the audience - a gap we strive to close in the concert experience.
The term psychedelic is derived from the Greek words psihi ("soul") and diloun ("manifest"), translating to "soul-manifesting". LA PSYCH FEST is precisely that - a manifestation of the resplendent and astounding creative community in Los Angeles. In the manner of manifesting, we ask for a donation to help us make this a possibility.
Your donation will guarantee us more well-deserved compensation for artists, lower ticket prices, fruitful advertising, the best possible sound and video quality, and a head start on planning for next year! We're asking for $6,000 from this campaign but we don't get a dime of it unless you folks are kind enough to help us meet or exceed that minimum. 90% of the lineup has been booked, the venue and date are cemented, and we have a good idea of how much the show is costing us to produce: in the range of $6,000 to $8,000! So that's what we're asking for here. Profits above this amount will be split fairly between the artists, volunteers, and organizers. Regardless of whether or not we meet our financial goal, the festival WILL go on and you will have the opportunity to be a part of this incredible event.
