Connected as Todd Sapio (739 friends)

After both moving from Los Angeles to Austin in search of a greater music community, old friends Scott Graham and Todd Sapio, who literally bumped into each other in the middle of Sixth St. during South By Southwest, began hashing out song ideas in the spring of ‘07. After a few solid rehearsals, Scott suggested that his brother Matt, who had already been living in Austin, should sit in on bass. M...att, who was not normally a bass player, brought a different, more melodic approach on the bass that fit in perfectly. Their manager at the time, Dustin Laycock, brought in Coloradoan session player Caleb Kelly on drums after their current drummer literally vanished the day before an important gig. Behind his “Ringo kit,” Caleb conjured his signature thunderous groove for the three Houston-bred white boys, and the band had found their sound.

The newly formed Language Room immediately went into the studio to record their first E.P. with LA producer Derek Jones. From that session, “Make Me Choose” was used as the intro to Livestrong.org, and “Don’t Cover Your Eyes” was also used in the ending credits of The Beacon. Having only been together for less than a year, the band began to turn heads all over the Texas region. One head in particular was Austin producer Matt Noveskey. So in the winter of ’08, he and the band began working on their debut album One by One.

Released independently in February ’09, the album received excellent reviews. “Rarely do young bands release profound music with their debut,” said The Hollywood Bureau; “(One by One) is a bold and resplendent ode to American rock and indie pop…an epic poem written for the musically obsessed.” According to Austin Chronicle critic Austin Powell, “Language Room's alt-rock debut is slick and radio-friendly, but the local quartet performs with the earnest sincerity of Clarity-era Jimmy Eat World and has an ace up its sleeve in guitarist Scott Graham.”

After acquiring new management with George Cappellini Jr., the final self-titled version Language Room was officially released in 2010 under independent record label Pazzo Records. Originally comprising of 10 songs, Cappellini suggested that three songs be shelved to feature two new songs, “Frantic” and “Quiet Eyes.” So with their brand new album, the band toured all over the States and has developed a loyal and compassionate following. With new and current drummer Sean Hill, Language Room is currently busy re-shaping their sound to fit Sean’s aggressive and monstrous drumming, while recording new songs for the upcoming E.P. with producer Dwight Baker, which is set to be released by the end of the year.
