Pass Bake: Do Passwords Better

Passwords are a huge part of our lives. We log into so many services every day. How do we know which of those services can access our passwords? What if our password is compromised? At best, we can reset all of our accounts.

No one wants to spend their time coming up with new passwords or writing them down or looking for that old password. We should use the proper tool for the job. There is software for this, right?

Password managers have been around for a long time. These applications are available to store, encrypt, and even generate your passwords for you. Unfortunately, there are several problems here. To start with, password managers are not typically cheap. Then, after setting up your passwords, you are tethered to that app. What if you want to log in on your phone? You better hope there is an app for that. If not you will spend a lot of time slowly copying over your passwords with a small keyboard. If so, by purchasing another app, you are going to double your expenses. 

Unfortunately, the headaches don't end there. What if you are away from your devices? You cannot access you passwords without your computer or phone. On top of that you have to worry about syncing and encryption and backup.

We need a new way... a new perspective. A fresh look at passwords that will simplify and secure our online lives. And now, I'm proud to bring you Pass Bake. 

Pass Bake takes a step back from our current way of doing passwords. Instead of storing passwords, Pass Bake generates them every time. How can this work? Pass Bake has a solution that I call Recipes. For every password you have, you create a recipe. These recipes consist of common ingredients, such as your email address and the website or service that the password will be used on. Combine that with a secret ingredient (a passphrase) that only you know to complete the recipe.

Bake your recipe with Pass Bake, and it will give you the same password every time. Now you don't need to store your passwords anymore. Simply remember your recipes for each service that you use, and you will never be without your passwords. Don't worry. They aren't hard to remember. In fact, they practically remember themselves. All you need to know is your email address and the address of the website you are logging into. Simple. Safe. Free.
