Lady Millard Facebook "100 Real Friends Project "

How can you feel a deep connection to someone you've never met. I have friends all over the world that I have only met through facebook but have yet to meet in real life. I have shared very personal relationships with these people and somehow I have found a deep connection to them. They have become collectors, contributors and even family. 

Everything that I have worked on in my art was about finding uniqueness within others. I wanted to do a portrait for these unique individuals but I had to own the photograph as well so I came up with a great idea. Why not meet my friends in their environment and take pictures of them? This is what the project is about - finding those connections and building upon them.  I will travel on location to take a photograph of the 100 hand selected facebook friends and take a picture of them which I would then make into a 30x40” Mixed Media & Canvas Portrait.

THE PROCESS

The entire process will take up to 1 year 

Step 1 -  Travel on location 

I would purchase an around the world ticket in order to travel to as many countries where my facebook  friends are located. 

Step 2 -  Document the process through photograph and Video 

I would like to experience the lives and cultures of my facebook friends  - by creating a documentation of the process and posting the videos on YouTube.

Step 3 -  Creation of work

Each portrait would take three days from start to completion  - The process would be to import all the images / select the best shots / rework on the image / print out the images on canvas / use oil paints to create details in each portrait - processed in stages. 

Step 4 -  Curation of Work 

Have an opening and Party in New York City  & Other Cites 

I would invite all the people to come to New York City an view each portrait - the portraits would be for Sale -

FUNDING FOR THE PROJECT 

I project that this project will take a year to complete - The money that I will need for this is $30,000 + fee from KICKSTARTER and Amazon and project rewards.Camera equipment, travel & accommodations and production of the work Including printing costs . All totaling $36,000.
