INTRODUCTION:

You may have noticed that our previous project was cancelled & our production was delayed. The source of this was a potential executive producer that our production company considered signing a contract with. In consideration of this contract, we were required to cancel the project for the producer. We hope this delay hasn't altered your perspective of "Pulse". We will be releasing another short film entitled "Hands" this summer to make up for the delay. If we receive enough funds, we are considering re-shooting the opening scene as well.

About the Film:

"PULSE" is about two men & their opposing views of euthanasia violently colliding. It's an emotional and suspenseful short narrative film with similar style to the movies "Death Sentence" and "The Lookout".  The film stars skilled actors Josh Imlay, Kimble Walsh (who has work on IMDB.com), Gabi Alves, Brandon Truman, Peyton Reed, Stacey Lorraine, and Lauren Conn. 

"Pulse" will be shot on the Sony PMW-EX3, feature the cinematography of Ben Smith, the editing of Patrick Thelen, and will be directed by Kevin W. Shively. It will be about 18-20 minutes in length, which is double the length of our first short film.

The aim of the cast & crew is to achieve a film with dark tones/content while exploring deeper themes of humanity. The cast and crew are ready and about to begin shooting in early June, 2012. Production meetings with the cast and crew are already underway, in preparation for the upcoming shoot.

Again, our goal is to not only create a short film, but engage the audience prior to shooting with questions and behind the scenes pictures & information. We aim to be even more engaging than our last project. "Pulse" kicks off with emotion, leads to gritty suspense, climaxes with a bang, and hopefully will follow up with cerebral discussion.

About the Money:

Our first short film, "Blue", asked for $250. You gave us more than double our budget. So we thought to ourselves why not step up the budget with each of our projects? There's no reason not to. So we carried over the $250 extra you gave us, and are applying it to our new $1,000 budget for "Pulse". The $250 went towards the props, costumes, makeup, and craft featured in the first sequence of "Pulse". We also received a $200 donation. Why are we asking for $625? Kickstarter.com takes 10%, so we had to add a little onto the $550 we were originally asking for.

So what do we need money for?

• Renting Equipment. We're using a better camera this time around, the SONY PMW-EX3. We'd like to use some better lighting and be able to afford some rails for our dolly to get smoother shots.
• Props and Costumes. These costs are inevitable. To immerse our viewer in the environment, we have to make sure that we get the right props.
• Food. Surprisingly, this is the easiest way to calm the cast & crew.
• Festivals. We're really confident in "Pulse" & eager to enter our first festival but in order to do that, we need to make more than our budget.
