Krystle Cruz was born and raised in San Diego, California. She began singing at the ripe age of 3 and started gracing the stage at age 9. In her early years, she looked up to artists such as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, Nina Simone and the likes. As a child, she played the lead role of Jasmine in the musical play "Aladdin" and has opened for renowned Filipino artists such as Roselle Nava, Jose Mari Chan, and Vina Morales to name a few. She was the first runner-up at Club SeaWorld's singing competition in 2003. She has led worship at youth groups and at her home church--she finds solace in gospel music. Aside from singing, her second love is dance. She started dancing at age 13 and joined the San Marcos High School dance team as a freshman. In the next year, she became the captain of her team, becoming the only sophomore to become an artistic leader. She remained on her school's dance team throughout her high school career, training in both Hip Hop and Jazz and earned the title of "Miss Dance" two years in a row. Krystle also began training under Erik Saradpon and Phillip Geniza when she was 15 and continued to dance with an all-female Hip Hop team called Hi-Fidelity and their co-ed team Mass Appeal, under the umbrella of EK Entertainment & Talent Company (EKetc). She discovered her love for choreography in the duration of her dance career. She was the featured vocalist in EKetc's annual talent showcase "Full Out" for five years. In mid-2008, she resigned from the company to thoroughly focus on her music. Soon after, Krystle got discovered on YouTube by a prominent producer at a Japanese label called Avex Entertainment. She was given the opportunity to go on an all-expense paid trip to Japan for about 3 months to undergo intensive artist development, training physically and vocally under industry professionals. Currently, she is recording original songs for her album to be released late May. She has been working with amazingly talented musicians, writers and producers. She also has two renowned choreographers, Phillip Geniza & Melissa Adao, aboard her team. Krystle continues to perform both covers and originals at her shows, all the while promoting the release of her debut album. As far as her music goes, Krystle likes to incorporate dance beats with everyday feelings into her songs. She wants to show the world how versatile she is as an artist not only through her vocals, but through her movement. Now, with a clear sense of self, she will continue to work for what she wants until her dream is fulfilled because music is her passion and her first love beyond the glitz, glamour and fame.
