The Film Synopsis
Melody, a young Hollywood superstar, has deceived everyone by pretending to be the perfect role model, but when she ends up pregnant with no idea who the father is, her career is in jeopardy of being destroyed. Before the press finds out about her secret bad-girl lifestyle, her agent devises a plan to hide her and replace her with Kate, an off-the-street look-alike desperate to escape her sordid past. Melody’s jealousy takes over when Kate is cast in her dream film and starts dating her gorgeous co-star. Lives are changed forever when a parent’s greed and a rebellious young actress’s jealousy intertwine with another girl’s only chance at a better life. Each will stop at nothing to get what they want.

I'm Kristi, the writer of A Fool's Paradise. I have been working on the script for a couple years now and it is time to bring it to life. I cannot put into words how fortunate I feel to have the support of my friends and family and to all those who believe in this as much as I do. There is a reason I am the one behind the camera, and not the one in front of it, but I wanted to be sure to post one so you can see who I am and my love for what I do.
We are raising the last of the funds needed to film the concept trailer. In addition to the trailer, we will be making short video introductions for the main characters in the film. Our goal is to showcase the storyline of the film, the style, the talent, and use these videos to secure the needed funds to shoot the feature film.
The Goal
100% of the raised funds are going towards the trailer. I am asking the Kickstarter community to help me raise the last $500 that is absolutely needed. Could we use more? Most definitely. The more funds we raise, the more crew we can hire, the more resources we will have, the more props, and the more creative freedom to make this film the absolute best it can be.
I am paying all the cast, the crew, the catering for the 3 days on set, the locations, the props, the equipment rentals, the insurance, and the marketing of the final product. Portland has amazing talent and they deserve to be compensated for their hard work.
We only get the funds if at least 100% of our goal is met. We hope everyone who believes in individuals, small groups, start-up production companies, and people with a dream and a story to tell will take the time to share our idea, our goal, our dream and if at all possible, chip in towards the budget.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There are risks with every project. As any experienced filmmaker would know, making a film is a TON of work. But if you love what you do as much as I do, it's not work. It's getting to do what you love, many many many hours a day!
To ensure success of my film, I have enlisted the help of many Portland, OR video professionals. I have a camera, tech, audio, lighting, and editing specialists, and I have the help of the most amazing assistant director in Portland.
The real challenge I am facing at the moment is the last of the funding. I have been planning this production essentially for years and I am funding about 75% of it myself. I am graciously coming to you for the last 25%.
I am the writer and director of this film. I am also the editor. When you have a dream, you will do everything you can to ensure the success of it. This is not a question of IF the film will be made. It is a question of: Am I going to get the last of my budget to make this trailer how it deserves to be made.
